I'm finally feeling it. That feeling as the Clark Govt and the world economy sank at the same time, and incomprehension and denial that went with both events, have moved toward a more open attitude. Divisions are still tribal, but there seems to be less open war between the tribes.

I agree Jackie (not about the embarrassment) but about reclaiming such good words. There are a whole lot of very expressive words we no longer use, such as 'beaut' and 'groovy'.

'Bonza' is another. I quite like 'neat' but not often heard these days. They probably define the decade people experienced the most intensely. -
