um..stroke of inspiration. what happened? 1994 is back in fashion again? the tragic decline of western culture mapped track by track since the 70s, 'i've lost my way" to be sure. exemplified by the fact that one of the links has already been removed. Justice with nursery rhyme lyrics, cutting edge.

Oh, actually it wasn't removed -- I b0rked the link. It's fixed now.

There is something ridiculously cute about hearing French in such a New Zealand accent, although it did rub for a few seconds as my brain tried to understand that seeming non-sequitur. As far as I can tell, a better version can be found on the Hype Machine.

  • Kebabette,

been on the ladyhawke kick for a while thanks to my friends |The Joint and Pinacolada Records. Like her foxy Sharon O'Neill look too.

    Hype Machine is my crack.

And there is just something wonderful about songs in French. Serge Gainsbourg etc but also cheesy pop like Ca plane pour moi by Plastic Bertrand. I found a post on songs in French that included the French version of Paris is burning along with various songs in French by Blonde Redhead and Girl Aloud (Can't speak french). Tasty.

  • Tony Judd,

Ladyhawke is nice enough, but did you see the Feist/Sesame street video down the page.

Wow. Educational & cute as a button. Mini-crush. Colour me a fan-boy etc...

She played the park just round the corner from me the other night. Beautiful show.

I have no where else to post this and just have to, besides it's Friday- San Francisco just qualified Prop W for the presidential ballot - it will rename the "Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant" to be the "George W. Bush Sewage Plant"

    Me neither.

Been around for officially licensed stuff for a while now.

But it being Friday, a couple of rather different videos, most certainly available in New Zealand:

CBS' Last Flight from Da Nang

And Walt Disney's Der Fuehrer's Face

  • Ben Austin,

I saw Ladyhawke in a small Hoxton club about three or so weeks back and I had a pretty good time. They started off a little slow but soon the audience was well into them. I would definately recommend them as a live act.

  • Graham Reid,

Speaking of Wikipedia entries on musicians: up until a fortnight ago the occupations listed for Australian alt.country Kasey Chambers were "singer-songwriter, musician, lesbian".
I put this to her during an interview to be published in the Herald in advance of her Kings Arms concert with her husband Shane Nicholson (August 5) and she laughed.
Then she said, "what do you think of that Shane?" and he fired back with dusty and droll immediacy, "I think you should quit that job".
Seems someone else thinks so too -- that particular "occupation" is now no longer listed.

  • Shep Cheyenne,

I find lesbians mostly invisable, except for my cousin and then she's not a lesbian, she's my cousin.

She's the one who has experienced the most domestic violence from her various partners than anyone else I know.

The TVNZ Charter seems to have 'forgotten' their obligation to this community. What was that rediculous puppet show on TV about? I might have missed a queer in joke but I think I wouldn't be alone on that.

    Whoa, lesbians have super-powers? Ace.

A guy I didn't know (school gates can be weird places) once told me that he told his kids not to look at 'those people'. This led to a satisfyingly ironic conversation about how easy it is to spot gay people.

    Hey, they're playing Torchwood.

Superpowers - I've been trying to get the power of Levitation for years.
Normally when I can't get off the couch I blame my failure on this Superpower.
