  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Gareth Ward,

find most people complaining about voters not engaging or biased media coverage to be pretty partisan based – the switch in narrative between KB and the Standard being a clear example
[*and an interest and understanding well beyond my own]

See, there in itself lies the problem. I don't know how many times I get told "well, I didn't come here to discuss politics" (often when their argument starts crumbling) and many times when we have just been screwed over (in no way insinuating sex for future reference to those trying to find it;) by this lot ruling the roost.People do not seem interested until a politician gets caught being a human rather than the robots uninterested people expect.
If we had some good reporting on what is actually going down in the House then, all politicians could be held to account for the state of our Nation, and the smug ones with no agenda other than to pick up the pay chek will be shown for what they are.
WE NEED BETTER INFORMATION (for average Joe ), then maybe we can begin to understand what the "Vote" actually means! ( RB and his crew already try to do this,as you know)

But implying the failure to engage is all down to the voters or media as Curran did doesn’t leave much room for constructive action.

And saying outright that it’s completely the opposite, as Lew does, seems unhelpful to me as well.

I didn't read Curran like that .I did however read the lament of a Labour Party person sick of reading the garbage in Granny. So little this week about the seabed bill. See, watched it all and cant remember it's title. but I do now know there is a Parana park which has been vested to the people of Hamilton thanks to Parliament TV and no other news /TV organisation.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Jacqui Dunn,

Read it t'other day ,questioned it myself . didn't check but, said I heard, not that I knew.
    Ne'er mind eh?
and what Steve said earlier,(hi there :) I genuinely see basically pretty honest folk of the ones I have met in Labour. I do feel I see their awkwardness sometimes also.I do think Goff is in that group. So should they be different for the sake of politics? I don't know but don't think I would change who I was.Mastering the art of bullshit? Fuck that.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Craig Ranapia,

And I’ll compare and contrast with David Parker – who, IIRC, asked to be stood down from Cabinet and the position of Attorney-General as soon as he was aware that allegations he filed a false declaration with the Companies Office would surface in Insinuate Magazine

Ok ta craig but can you remind me why you mentioned him earlier. I missed something? Was I away? Was I away with the fairies? Or was I still behind the 8 ball?
'Xcuse me,cheese and mushroom omelette calls.:)

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Russell Brown,

So why not stand him down in the first place?

Dunno Russell, perhaps he really thought it'd be over before he would be pushed to have to drop him. He said he honestly didn't know about the allegation until reported. Goff is taking all the flak on this, this man is always prepared to talk to media, so maybe he thought unless the shit hits the fan base I wont react until necessary. Tell you what, I'll ask him. I promise, cos I don't want to speculate ;)

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Russell Brown,

I’m sorry, but what the flaming fuck?

"because of the questions of judgment that were raised."

"I can hear one side of the case through Darren Hughes. I can't talk to the complainant. The police can talk to both, and that's why they're the appropriate body to make any decision about what they do with that complaint."

Bear in mind Hughes offered to resign for the good of the party and possibly cos he could see the long and winding road ahead. Shit, I saw that path immediately, and Goff has had nothing but shit flicked at him since. His treading carefully at the beginning don't necessarily mean they both didn't know the end.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Sacha,

Sacha, hello luv, yes it changes all the time.Certainly the type of government one has, dictates the type of reporting we have seen plus the time with technology that increases perception . Tweets, Faceswipe, are so instant that a politician has no time to think before they react and then the Holmes, Flaws Smiths of the world demand answers to ambiguous insinuating questions which become "confusing" to the listener (for someone even as bright as RB no doubt ;) So it changes. An earthquake made many in CHCH even like Bob Parker. He didn't change his attitude. just everything around them changed.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to Rex Widerstrom,

Rex, the man gets out and about, promise. The guy is a workaholic in this area. I go for the groceries, there he is, I open the letter box, a mini calender which I actually needed. His office is open unlike Jackie Blue, (which I have never seen open and do know she doesn't share with Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga) and he has a roaming caravan for people contact. Thing is he is still the same man the electorate believes in because he hasn't changed but does listen which is why he was able to learn a few differing ideas from his electorate.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards, in reply to giovanni tiso,

Well we can all live and learn Gio. Maybe just not as fast as some may like. He did admit recently that, they got it wrong with regards access to courts for Maori with regard foreshore etc. He admitted he got it wrong pushing Key over Worth and his issues. I actually find him quite good on responses to questions I pose to him, being that he is my electorate.
Still, sad he ain't perfect, but never to old to learn init ;)
