Hard News: Before Lust, in reply to
I remember that book - I recall being mildly hypochondrialised by the VD section. Ironic given my utter lack of any opportunity to contract one.

Field Theory: And they're off!, in reply to
Historically my (highly limiting) rule of thumb for "it should be in the Olympics" has been "getting yourself/an object as far as possible (vertically or horizontally) and/or as quickly as possible". However we would lose both the Daft Punk joustery and beach volleyball so perhaps not...
I think you should add "as accurately as possible" so as to retain the archery...

Normally, a candidate is accountable to the people who vote for them as well as the law, but in the case, it isn't just a corrupt candidate, it's a corrupt electorate.
"And our slogan shall be, 'a rotten candidate for a rotten borough'."

I downloaded GoT season 1 because I _couldn't_ pay for it, even though I wanted to. Now season 2 is available at usorious prices from Sky, I'm not downloading it, I'm just waiting for the DVD/Bluray. Even if I actually paid approaching $100 a month to Sky just to watch GoT, the compression on the SoHo broadcast would have me chasing them for a refund for false advertising - they shouldn't be allowed to call that HD.

I’m thinking Roman gladiator revivals and live vigilante snuff à la The Running Man, with the shock value of Cannibal Holocaust. Jeux de la Mort came close, but no cigar.
Maybe select a bunch of teenagers from poverty-stricken communities and compel them to fight to the death with promises of food for their families. Release them in a national park with primitive weapons and minimal resources, make the winner an Idol-like celebrity. Call the The Food Fight, or something like that.

Remember the punishment for bigamy is very harsh - two mothers-in-law!

I'll put a bid in on Murdoch, per et fil. Both worthy of their A Team namesake, and chewed up many, many column inches on and off-line.

Hard News: The Solemnity of the Day, in reply to
We had a tea-time telephone call from our Prime Minister last evening. Did everyone get one or were we winkled out as swingers or potentially so?
I got mine tonight. Hung up after I worked out what it was. If I want to listen to a recorded message I'll call IRD.

offered to drop a form in for my wife, who works well out of town, but she's not keen on voting because she doesn't have a clue what's been happening in NZ over the past year or so, and generally thinks all politicians are slimy and manipulative.
So she is up to date then...

As they say "My great grandad didn't cross 20000 miles of ocean in a leaky boat to see this country overrun by immigrants!"
