I've just got home from TechEd (drinking the microsoft kool aid). I was twittering in the front row of a demo of Win7 slates, tablets & skinny lappies when the news about Jobs hit the wires.
About 25 mins later, the two Microsofters doing the demo showed some device off by bringing up a live news feed - big headline "Steve Jobs Retires". The demo stopped absolutely dead for seconds on end as they processed that, then they said something to the effect of they hoped he was alright and wished him the best. Then they carried on comparing their hardware to iPads and macbooks without mentioning ipads and macbooks.
The samsung skinny lappie was nice though, and the rugged tablet was impressive as the bloke threw it roughly to the floor.

I was thinking someone needs to find that bastard with the white can and burn it - obviously he's been using it to jinx the ABs from afar with voodoo witchery!

Of course now I feel deprived that my parents didn't cave into my grandparents and send me off to Sunday school, so I could get kicked out like all the cool kids :-)

I wish it was illegal to indoctrinate kids like that :(
As I saw quoted on the intenets somewhere recently:
Religion is like a penis:
Its ok to have one,
Its ok to be proud of it,
But don't bring it out in public,
And don't try and shove it down my kids' throats. -
We had pre-marriage counselling from the very lovely multi-denominational pastor at the University Chapel (we both worked at the Uni at the time, we weren't (quite) that young). I remember stuff all about it, but I suppose since it was 15 years ago, they'd be happy to take some credit for the relationship lasting (of course we had been living in sin for seven years previously).
I do remember our ceremony, which was a beautiful compromise between my vaguely christian mrs and my apathetic agnostic (I don't know & I don't care) self - presided over by the wonderfully named reverend Lindsay Cumberpatch, who sang us a sweet rendition of Carole King's You've Got A Friend.
It was all religious looking and sounding enough to make all the elderly relatives happy, but didn't involve me having to perjure myself on the alleged happiest day of my life. -
Also by having metric fuckloads of juicy, juicy oil and gas.
plus cod liver oil... Perhaps not such a plus that.
