Thanks for writing this, Amberleigh. If this is a step towards making some peace with your loss, I'm doubly happy about having it here.

Thanks Russell - I've been wanting to put something down for a while - It's good to have a welcome home for it :)

Beautifully written. Particularly poignant for me since the loss of my best friend, who seemed to share many of Barney's fine qualities. The ability with people, to accept and draw them closer. I am so sorry for your loss.

If you're wondering who he was - Great interview with an impressively sensationalist headline: http://www.vice.com/read/i-worked-out-how-to-remotely-weaponise-a-pacemaker

A shocking, tragic loss. Thank you for giving us this, Amberleigh. I hope the mystery surrounding his death is resolved for your family, too.

Maybe all sisters say that. Maybe it's our job to believe such things. I don't know
I know one or two younger brothers who might feel the same about their elder sisters. Just saying.
That...and thanks.

I think you're probably right. It's a special kind of relationship, that's for sure.

As someone who is the eldest (in a family of 6 sibs) may I note that younger siblings feel differently according to a) upbringing (one of my sibs was ‘given’ to her grandparents to bring up) and position in the family order. And – you miss sibs a great deal once they are dead, reguardless of their accomplishments-
be well-

Amberleigh, your brother sounds so awesome, I'm so sorry for your loss.
I don't know how I would manage without any of my siblings. Losing them would break my whole world.

Amberleigh, I'm sorry for your loss. Barnes was so full of life, I'll never forget his energy, his humor, and his ability to make friends everywhere...people loved to be in his presence. He was here with us all for a short time, but he made such an impact on those who knew him.
