Zappa engages with the Australian intelligentsia, 1973. The clip shown as an example of rock music's power to wreak evil appears to be the Sweet in concert:
A pity that the later part of the show doesn't seem to be available, where the most earnest participant asks "Mr Zappa, do you believe that anyone can be truly free?"
To which Zappa replies "Well if you can't be free you can always be cheap." -
The only song I can recall being physically threatened for enthusing over, but that was a very long time ago.

Best guess is a still fairly small weeping Chinese scholar tree. Sometimes sold in NZ as Japanese kowhai, it's a Chinese native. If you happen to be around there in August check for kowhai-like flowers.

It's really worth a look. Although I'm glad the name New Ulster didn't catch on.
Interesting how of the four "quadrants" shown there, Waterloo Quadrant actually came to be, though in a rather compromised shape.

The second Kinks song I became aware of was in a film about a penis transplant ("Percy").
Percy was apparently based on a novel by the late Raymond Hitchcock, father of onetime Soft Boy Robyn Hitchcock:
"And then he started writing and hit the bonanza with a book about a penis transplant (“Percy”). I see that the first penis transplant has actually just been carried out in China, and after two weeks, they had to take it off the recipient…not because it physically didn’t work, but because there were psychological problems! Which means that the guy’s back with his stump, so I don’t know what he’s going to do. And, anyway, I was wondering what my father would have thought of that."
