Stream the new David Kilgour album “Left By Sort” here.
Is good.
(Thanks to @ArchHillMystery & @jesstherese)

Whew, that Saints track just gave me the kick up the arse I needed today - Yeah!!

If you want a weekend banger I suggest you grab this:
My 16 year old has been rattling our windows with it for the last few weeks. I've been approving.

It is!
Should have written about it this week -- never mind: it'll still be good next week ...

Best thing about the Gregory Brothers interview: one of the Gregory brothers says "dag", which I haven't heard since the '90s. (That's the US slang dag, not the NZ slang dag.)
Second best thing about the Gregory Brothers interview: Jose's Aotearoan gift. No bullshit chocolate fish or L&P. Jose gets real deal with a lined refill, a NZ Fishing magazine and the aforementioned photo of the PM.
I also enjoyed the article about Shamus Culhane. There's much more to his story than a bored animator sneaking a few cock-n-balls into a cartoon.

a lined refill,
The team got a special thrill from that one. We love the stationery cupboard at Top Shelf.

And, finally, because it’s one of the greatest rock songs of all time
Immediate thought was "pff! that's unlikely", but OH MY GOD, thankyou for sharing!

Some freshly baked beats from P Money as well:

I love the Friday thread; it's perfect Autumn day in Sydney, ideal for Buzzin fly (Ben Watt). His weekly radio show is here for those that like a little UK house (now if that's the wrong lable, cut me some slack).

As a rule I find anything posted on UKF is gonna be paint by numbers crap.. lol.

If I may, I'm celebrating Breaks Co-op at the moment. Because I'm missing my brother something rotten, but also because I like his music. So I offer you some beats from my brother, Hamish Clark . I love this because "One finger at a time, relax your grip and free your mind" is what I strive for.

Oh, it's super cheese alright. Damned foot won't stop tapping though...

I should also say I find my kids discovery of music interesting, just to see where they go with it. Our place is awash with music but I've never consciously tried to push anything on them so it's interesting to see them evolve their own tastes.
Several times now the older boy has come to me and asked what I'm playing because he has it sampled into something like a UKF mix or Ministry of Sound compilation. Tunes like 'Hiphop' by Dead Prez or 'Chase the devil" by Max Romeo are commonly sampled on pretty average dance music but I then find him grabbing the originals for his own iPod. Makes me happy.

Ah! I was a big fan of the Lazy Dog album, didn't know he was doing this, so thanks.
I used to see Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn around quite a bit when I worked in the West End. They always looked to me like people I'd get on with. Tracey's last album, Love and Its Opposite is a gloriously bleak and witty exploration of middle-aged unease.

Kids liking the same music as their parents. That's just..... wrong, no?

Lolz. In my house, I'm the one who gets told "that's not even music!".

Well, that was my point. He's busy listening to cheesy dance mixes, d&b and dubstep and totally has his own tastes which I've never tried to influence, he could like Bieber for all I care. But several times he's accidentally heard the original stuff that's being sampled in his tunes playing out of my decks. And he's curious about it, no bad thing I reckon.
What is depressing is that most of his friends seem to like '80s power ballads (Bon Jovi, Poison etc...) and ACDC. WTF is up with that?

I think now I'd just walk up and say 'I think we might have similar taste in music, can I buy you a drink?' Well, I'd like to think I would.
This has always been one of my favourites, and I still play it on Vinyl quite often. Seems appropriate since it's independent Record Store day tomorrow and Vinyl is the new black.
If I was a DJ I'd say 'this one's for Jackie'.

Dear God, that Shanks speech is deeply disturbing. This woman is on a publicly funded salary? Tell me she is one of those, you know, like people you create on the interweb thingy with your computer but they're like, not really real. Computer-generated, that's it.

I have never heard of her. Thank you.

Welcome. But you have heard of her more famous band Everything But the Girl, right? That's Ok if not, it's just, umm, if it was up to me, they would be compulsory.
