I didn’t know Eddie went to school with Lorde …
I should just point out (not sure if the irony is made that clear in the video) that the whole "Eddie went to school with Lorde" thing was something that Ryan Hemsworth made up on air, but was then latched onto by both Ella and Eddie who subsequently tweeted about how much they enjoyed going to school together, just to make things even more confusing. Crazy kids.

Ha! I did wonder if that was the case ...

yeah man, Ayers is a fine score - he was here a few years back for a gig at Sale St of all places, ain't nothing but the vibes.

Sad news indeed. My condolences to the Spence family. Neil's legacy is that as part of the Androidss he gave me some great memories from the 80s in Christchurch.
The Androidss video really is a 3 min documentary of life from the early 80s for Christchurch too. I still have that as 7" single and it was one of my first record purchases as a 17 year old (it was a B-side I think). The video reminded me of the weekly routine of playing spacies at Petes burger bar, then off to the United Service Hotel for underage drinking and then finally off to a party to pogo to the Androidss or Mainly Spaniards on the Pye stereo player at some flat in Riccarton.

Saw Roy Ayers at the East Coast Blues & Roots in 2003, just a magnificent show. Between him, Robert Randolph and Sly & Robbie (and the Violent Femmes and Tuck & Patti and......) it was a big weekend.
-
Ayer's Sale St gig was magnificent. Great tunes, great vibe and the venue worked. Awesome night out.

The drawing room, part papered , part panelled...
In case anyone missed it - a great interview with Dylan Horrocks about his new graphic novel Sam Zabel And The Magic Pen and things...According to The Herald he apparently spent some time in the dense bush of West Auckland as a child ...
...when I was nine or ten, and I spent a few months living in Boganville with my mother, because she was a social anthropologist doing field work there, and we lived in a village in the bush for a while.
Heh!
also of passing interest to Kiwi comic fans is Adrian Kinnaird's top ten covers gallery.

Would be great if you could and the smart urbanists could have your 'Imagining Auckland' ideas transferred to those who cannot afford to go to wonderful events like Splore. Those are really the people who it matters to.

home brood...
What's the point of being famous if The NZ Herald can't even be bothered getting your name right?
Georgia Knott on tour
I wonder what Georgia Nott thinks about touring? -
That was a particularly bland interview.

Oh dear. That's very poor.

Any chance of Knott touring Boganville, according to the Hurried?
(Who has time to wait for Aussie subediting these days?) -

The nice thing about this version of ‘Bridges’ is that it strips back all the production to emphasise that there’s a song in there, one that Georgia Knott sings exquisitely:
It happens to best of us, I guess...
But The Herald is ostensibly better resourced, and probably has Subs who should pick this stuff up, as it were...;- )

Funny how it's ended up - Fairfax's Aussie titles are subbed and laid out in NZ
and is The Herald still done by Pagemasters (an Oz firm that lost the Fairfax contract) either here or there - who can keep it up with these sinking lidsIt still depresses me that the bosses of these big papers seem to see their 'product' as the ads (and ensuing revenue) rather than the written content, which you'd think is the reason most people engage with them...

Heh. But it's not in the headline!

if any ones going i highly recommend, nay, insist, that you go see kid koala. The only man ive ever seen cue records over the PA (no headphone cueing). A delightful wonky experience - and he actually looks like a koala.
keep your eyes peeled for his trademark layer of toilet rolls under the decks
