Queens Wharf (originally labeled 'Party Central' and now seemingly only labeled as 'The Cloud') will never show the Warriors game (sorry).
As much as it seems a nice idea its just not going to happen. It's mainly to do with contracts with major sponsors - if you were brand XXX and you had paid a small fortune to be the only brand in your market to be part of the RWC, you would be off the idea of competitor getting it for free via a coincidental win of a completely different sport.
Who knows - maybe Super McCully will step in and offer Cooks Wharf as an option but I very much doubt it - one grand final doesn't equal the shear scale of the RWC.
Lets move on and demand something in Aotea Square!

A big screen out the front of the Museum would be good, or even project it onto the museum.
Whatever they do to allow 10s of thousands to have their wine and cheese at the Concert in the Park could be stretched to beer and hotdogs, surely?

Righto: this pretty much looks like a war.
3 News has a “breaking” announcement from the Auckland Council of a main game Warriors screening on Captain Cook Wharf, and a separate event at Mt Smart, where the Vulcans and U20 finals will be shown too,
And APNZ/Herald has unnamed government officials making the same announcement.
But here’s the thing. The RWC Empowering Act really only gave the minister the power to seek consents before the council did, and thus push its spokesman to the front. It has no power whatsoever to mandate the use of Mt Smart Stadium, which is owned by the Auckland Council – least of all with respect to a sport which is not rugby union. This is fucking nuts.

F*#kwit.Maaaate, the most valuable thing you can give someone is your Time and trust me the Butcher has given plenty of that over the years. For everytime you've seen him in front of the telly or heard him on the radio there are scores of events he has attended or facilitated over his life that you won't have heard about.
You might not like his current coziness with JK and you might prefer your sausages from the Westmere butcher but it's just the way he operates, he's the ultimate networker, he makes shit happen.
I'm off to the GF on Saturday, really looking forward to it, I think they can do it this time.
What I want to know though is whether JK is going to knight Cleary and Capn. Mannering if they win ?

What Glenn said, I think Leitch has a genuine commitment to League. He certain was around when I was playing, Union, in South Auckland in the '70s and was active at grassroots level. Sure, he's made a buck along the way, but this Labour man doesn't object to that per se.

I do respect Peter Leitch, and as you say, he has given his time to a great many people over the years. I try and avoid buying his meat, though. It tends not to be of particularly good quality, and it's not necessarily cheaper than Westmere either.
Happily, the Point Chev Mad Butcher store currently has litre packs of Italian pomodoro passata for only $2.50. I can get behind that.

Definitely in the "only in NZ" department. Anywhere else in the English speaking world machine-gun toting cops would have surrounded the cab in a potential terrorism alert.
The hotel/motel trade, who set out to gouge the hell out of anyone from out of town on game nights, looks to have suffered a serious case of self-inflicted burn. And it serves the greedy bastards right. Price gouging of the order described in the Herald (1577%) simply stimulates people to be more energetic and inventive in finding alternatives. I know people who have met tourists in bars and offered them room on the floor of their houses to help them get around paying the money demanded by hotels and motels. Hopefully a few lessons have been learnt.

A highlight was coming back into the city – we just wanted to do the Fan Trail – I discovered that one couldn’t come back on the trains as I had thought one would. However a kindly driver took pity on us and gave us a lift in his drivers cubicle – so we saw what train drivers see as they errr, drive along. Very amazing. Many thanks to Mr Train Driver
Mr. Train Driver should actually be getting no thanks, and a pink slip. There’s actually a blindingly obvious safety reason why you don't carry passengers in the driver's van.

Yes, public service are often brilliant, make no mistake about that. I suspect that if Sir Mad or Michael Lock’s partner had called DIA this morning (wonder if the Locks still had to register the birth?), they would have been helped.
I think the problem is that the baby was only born a few days ago, and they haven't yet recieved a birth certificate, which they then need to send off to get a passport.
I have no problem with a staff member from the PM's office contacting DIA to get someone to do this. It's not like it wasn't going to happen anyway, just quicker.

For the record it should be noted that the only game where the Warriors finished the first half ahead on the scoreboard was last Saturday’s game.
Finishing 6th in the top 8 and then making it to the final is an achievement, particularly when for the entire season the penalty count against the warriors has been enormous – they have often finished the first half with over 7 penalties awarded against them.
Playing under the pressure and having to always coming from behind to win is going to make them more adapt at dealing with the pressure they will get in the final.
They are deserved of a win and are tight enough to pull it off.

can never be accused of...Like a lovable but cantankerous puss you keep around when you need something to entertain people with. Still, he hasnt come to terms with his mortality, that fear of death, shadows his every step.... as it does us all. And not in a nice way. Still I bet his funeral will have more flowers and hot air than mine. You may consider me jealous if you wish..... just dont insult any more organic butchers, by linking yours truly to them.
