I'm assuming it's a bicycle.

With a high-tech falafel bike seat I suppose? Wind-powered, I would guess.

With a high-tech a priori falafel bike seat.

Not quite. It's like the Lamborghini of Espresso Machines.
I want one.
ETA: Do you really have one?

Hebe, in reply to
Yeah, well that would be thinking outside the square in a new paradigm.

the $10 fare seems particularly steep.
I agree... but from my reading, that is an all-day pass, not just a single get on/get off ride?
Depending on how many places with nice views, or things to do, or car-parks, and places for feeding/watering, etc. are on the route... You could make a decent half day or more of it? Which doesn't seem quite so bad.

I like this; no-one I know seems to appreciate it:

I have a Magimix espresso.
Sorry, that was meant for Rich Lock.
-
Hebe,
's ok. I'm delaying academic thought while drinking coffee and wasting time.

Oh I cannot tell you how much I agree. Some of the suburbs you go into and it's like a great big vacuum cleaners comes and sucks out your soul.
-
Unconvinced that you need a Ferrari machine to make coffee. Hot water, a drinking implement, and something to strain with. I'm considering experimenting with fine muslin cloth, just for kicks.
I ran out of coffee this morning. A $4 Pams dark blend from Pak N Save that is reasonably acceptable, all considered (all meaning price, and little else). Except my cravings meant I paid $4.50 at the Glen Innes Nosh this morning. I plan to stock up on bad coffee and never run out again.

If the tram went the other way, out to Mission Bay, I'd think that was a reasonable explanation. Perhaps I need to go down and consider it in person.

@ Rich Lock
Well, according to the The Manual it should be 1.2 - 1.5 bar with the pump set to 9 bar while the relief valve is set at 12 bar. However, for falafel I would recommend one of These for that extra crispy shell.
Or one of These for the smaller kitchen. -

Virtually nothing, it seems. More of a foot in the door for enlargement later - and along Tamaki Drive would make a lot of tourist sense.
Some are pushing for a route into Ponsonby though that seems more of an opportunistic distraction from their masters' lack of commitment to public transport.

If you're creating negative atmospheres, you're doing it wrong.

I’m with you that nobody needs a bar-quality machine (unless you have a bar I suppose), and I’ve always done well with my Bialetti, but I must question the 1stworldproblems tag. One of the cradles of NZ coffee culture, if you care to explore the lineage, is the city of Naples, who has enjoyed centuries of dire poverty, but for whose populace the “tazzulella ’e cafè”, the morning cup of good coffee, is a basic human right. There is a wonderful scene in Eduardo De Filippo’s play Questi fantasmi that illustrates the ritual, and its intrinsic cultural sustenance. Too bad it’s in Neapolitan…

Does anyone have any advice?
Always walk on the road edge of busy pavements and wash your hands regularly when removing laterals from tomato plants. ;-)

Yes, you're right. Too flippant by half. Mmmmm, kopi Jawa...

Meanwhile, a New Zealand woman has had her hand reattached by a surgeon in Split. You couldn't make this shit up, I swear.
-
A $12k coffee machine.
If you had one of those for five years, at 6% interest and assuming a cost per cup for beans and milk of $1 a time, then you'd break even at just over two cups day. (Versus shop coffee at $4).
I haven't factored in maintenance, or the cost of the piercings, tats and whippit abuse needed to achieve moderate competence as a barista, or even solicita.
-
Split is such a charming name. Does anyone from there ever say let's split, or is that just too corny?
-
Little known facts 1
The Worlds Largest recorded Iceberg was one tenth the size of New Zealand's North Island, despite that fact it was, almost, ten times as interesting. -

You do know they don't speak English there, right?

By this measure my Bialetti stovetop - which I thought was an extravagance at the time - must be raking it in!
