Okay, delerious mind speaking. Maybe.
One finger at a time, relax your grip and free your mind Hamish Clark/Breaks Co-op. Yes he's my bruv but I stlll think it's a lyric that bangs.
-
OOO! Must go get Breaks Co-op
-Jackie Clark, apropos "Human Remains": your comment that it would make a good film/was cinematic, is right on the button...I really must go out & dig in the bookshed-
incidentally - is your brother familiar with a taoistic technique, of focusing on fingertips (including thumbs) one at a time to release pain or anger? Cheers-

Is there a limit? If so, I'll make this my last, or switch to Photoshop at least.
Instigators Hope she's alright
I'm waiting for my baby
she's late, but then just maybe*
she won't be coming home tonight.
Hope she's alrightArt by Alexis Hunter.
*It's pretty hard to hear the middle bit, but I think that's right.

Would have to be Joe Wylie to do the art. He's bloody good.
Totally with you on that.
Or ... Joe doing a whole other Chris Knox song. Let me think about that ...

Likewise:
In my room I have built a religion of a kind

Or ... Joe doing a whole other Chris Knox song. Let me think about that ...
Amputee Song
We lie here in our holes
We cannot tell you why
We go from day to day
We cannot even die
There but for the grace of god
Go I, you point and say
We don't exist... ....Chris Knox Lyrics

Or maybe we could thank Shihad for the most useful lyric ever, with a great big graffiti-like clock by Otis Frizell or the like.
Put your clock back for the winter

Nice, Jo!
I too love the tiny triumphs though not in the matchbox car way.
Ok I spent way too long on this but enjoyed listening to loads of songs along the way. Had a lot more trouble coming up with artists than lyrics. Apparently I like artists that make comics better than painters... or possibly find their stuff easier to envisage on tshirts.
This one's my fave:
I'm shy about
opening my throat
A song might not fall outLucid 3, Smooth Machine (from Running Down The Keys); artist Flox
But there are so many possibilities!I'm never going out again
Or so i said last weekendCollapsing Cities, So I Said Last Weekend (from Elixir Always); artist Grant Buist
Been waiting all night, falling in love with my A.M. radio
And all the music starts a monotone crusade
Sets the clock in my chest at the right speedLucid 3, A.M. Radio (from All Moments Leading To This); artist Toby Morris
There is no depression in New Zealand;
there are no sheep on our farms
There is no depression in New Zealand;
we can all keep perfectly calmBlam Blam Blam, There is no depression in New Zealand; artist A friend of mine who paints awesome stuff
I wish I was in Wellington
the weather's not so good
The wind it cuts right through you
and it rains more than it shouldThe Mutton Birds, Wellington (from Salty); artist Tetyana Khytko
Threw coffee at the bouncer after a dress code dispute
He chased me round the block but he was too fat to catch me
Next day I woke up hung over,
confessed my undying love for her
She got surly and said
"Don't you think it's about
six months too early?"Collapsing Cities, Fear of Opening My Mouth (from Elixir Always); artist Dylan Horrocks
I can see it started years ago
And I recognise your pain
But I can't forget the innocence
That you've taken from meShihad, Bitter (from Killjoy); artist Stephanie Woodman

Nearly forgot my favourite Julia Deans lyrics!
So you sailed across the ocean
making plans to meet your family
Clutching packages of photographs
of those you left behind you
And of those you left behind you
I'm the only one still waiting
for the photographs to find me
and the postcards to remind me
I'm not your girlFur Patrol, Not Your Girl (from Pet); artist my friend again
And...
I've been looking round the pantry for a box of sorries
Bic Runga, Sorry (from Drive); artist ummm... running out of ideas. Dick Frizzell maybe.

I wish I could quote some lyrics from our lovely Mahinaarangi Tocker. She was a brilliant lyricist.

Here I sit in a coffin full of shit
As she knits guillotines for the epileptic fit

Lyrics - Don McGlashan, Your Window
I run by a string of houses,
Laid out like a string of pearls,
In each house there's a room,
And in each room there's a girl that I don't know, and it's as if
they've left their windows open for meArtwork: prison self-portrait of Malcolm Rewa

come on, have yourself a look
I'm proud of my shop
almost everything is from overseas
you won't find a better selectionYou'd want someone who could pick out the cringe, the unease. Frizzell, perhaps, or Janice Gill.
Such an amazing song, the sense of underlying wrongness in it gives me the creeps every time... "White Valiant" does that brilliantly too.

Booze is so easy to make at home, its look like a complete failure of Kiwi ingenuity to get upset because the government wants to make it more expensive.
1 x 20L bucket.
Some chopped fruit
1 kg sugar
add yeast.Cover....but leave room to breathe.
IN a few days strain it...and it will blow your head off.
Any age can do it.

Hmmm. Yeah I'd love Joe to design us a t-shirt, but I reckon he might have his hands full at the moment. Let us know if you need anything Joe :)

A forgotten classic...
“They’re sending rockets to the moon
They say the rich are going to live there soon,
But my cars broken down and it doesn’t run.
Mind you, a car won’t make the trip,
they’ll have a silver-plated rocket ship
but they won’t be asking me if I wanna come…
They say it’s lonely at the top,
I don’t know if it is or not.
But it’s lonely at the bottom lookin’ up…”Street talk – Battleground of Fun… (Hammond Gamble in fine form…)
Artwork by the mighty Peter Lewis
That'll scare 'em...

The whole of TE VAKA-

The petrol engine
The old age pension
The fires of Hades
The Briscoes lady!Don McGlashan, heard live at the Harbour Light. After which, mutual delight as he met for the first time a certain lady who was more than a little chuffed to be name-checked in his song.
Artwork: a subdivided square. I reckon Bill Hammond could render a pretty convincing fires of Hades. Simple line drawing for the engine, logo and piccy for the bottom right corner. OAP I'm not sure; maybe a Trace Hodgson cartoon?
Actually there are other lines to the list: you could make a whole series...
