Great shots. Liked the whole spectacle until the hail started.
Thanks all. :-)
And yeah, the hail mostly missed us here but a friend in Bryndwr had 30mm sky-balls! Shredded his skylight, which had had its earthquake repair 48-hours previously. -

Walking along Sumner Beach yesterday I looked at Shag Rock. After Feb it fell apart and to my eye looked like an armoured gauntlet. Then in June it fell again, this time I see a right hand facing the city with its thumb across the two middle fingers as they're bent down, the index and pinky raised in the universal 'Rock on' hand sign seen at every rock show.
Not drug assisted, but possibly blurry eyes from hayfever. -

Ribbons and crystals are purdy. Light art is great; lifts my spirit every time I see it. Hope we have more in Christchurch soon.

Totally weird...
and for my next trick at 10.30am(ish) today I* shall turn day to night (well, partially) - but no direct peeking (without proper filters), best place is under a maple tree, or similar arboreal cover, to experience a weirdlight eclipse dappled carpet - go groove!*well, not really me , it is the work of a much larger (if not infinite) system I am energetically connected to...

I don’t think the birds even noticed this one, unlike one years ago where the light got really strange and the birds all thought it was time to roost.
Sun was behind clouds for much of the time ….
Eclipse light lighting the memorial water feature at War Memorial museum
Maybe could have caught it better in these reflective black marble seats? (two suns for the price of one?)

City birds keep different hours -
I headed inland, hoping to get out from under the edge of the cloud, but still the solid high cloud screened the sun. Good viewing though with solar-filtered mini-telescope of a sextant. Certainly the rural birds were loud in their evening calls preparing to settle, here at 10.27 am, a few minutes before maximum exclipse. -

I like the second one, if I didn't know better I'd think it was the moon turned up the wrong way : )
