'Lectric candyfloss. Pink moon up there; rainbow clouds at Sumner mid-afternoon down here (sadly no camera -- we've been where the phones don't go for a few weeks and I've become used to carrying Bug Balm rather than technology).

Hmm! Camping. Tom Petty had the best thing to say on this activity: You don't have to live like a refugee

lake Okataina is a treasure, a quietly forgotten one, no baches, no speed boats, a retro lodge with stuff you can rent (kayaks, fishing rods) and clear water and peace. I have photographed a wedding in a grove at the edge of the lake in a misty rain. Lovely, no one minded getting damp and there were fantails everywhere.

Oh good. I have not been there, but my first cat - Sit Fishcious aka Sid - is buried there. I like to think of him having a bush to roam (he wasn't a bird hunter).

Yes Lake Okataina is indeed a treasure. I've been fishing and walking around there for over 25 years on and off, and every time i visit it's just as breathtaking as the first time. Now they've opened up the Western track for mountain biking ; it's rated a grade 3 but it's very steep and rutted in places.

Didn't realise it was bushfire haze yesterday - maybe that's why we had a beautiful sunset???
