  • Geoff Lealand,

Swallows and swifts...at the last game we went to at Waikato Stadium (where the Chiefs beat the Bulls), there appeared to to be a flock of darting birds circling in the lights about the Brian Perry Stand. But they weren't birds, but native long-tailed bats, drawn to the insect life. Amazing!

The wee one decided we should get up earlier than I would've liked.... but rural life starts early, anyways. And the reward was this cloudscape.

Nice sky, nice to see the passing storm too.

Here's the sky out west from Mt Eden yesterday eve.

  • Sj, in reply to Nora Leggs,

Love Bondi beach. The classic cove, the cluster of Mediterranean-style houses on the point; the breathtaking expanse when you arrive and look down and out.

My grand-mother was said to have ridden her horse through the surf at Bondi when she was a young woman. Side-saddle of course, this was early last century. She would be 125 if she was alive today.

She is buried up there on the cliff top looking out across the valley of surf, though she lived most of her life (50 years) in London.

    But I ramble...
    Great, timeless beach.

    Amazing resting place.

This picture was taken on the same day as the black and white, I just love the colour of that water.

Same day, different beach. Bronte apparently, according to Mr Leggs. My niece the sole passenger on the train.

From my archives, a walkabout in Sydney at one of the Eastern (Bronte, Coogee,??) beaches. That's me with the tinge of blue. Not quite bright enough I think :)

    Grand plan!

Well if I was the builder it would be a huge plan but so far it is proving an easy plan for my builder, and now that the brewery is underway a relatively soon plan. As discussed the other night ,the far north only needs a few things to get local support with a build and two of them is beer and food.Look! We have progress :) :) :)

  • Russell Brown,

So a few people have kindly offered donations towards the cost of this week's upgrade of Public Address. I was going to give that a swerve, but have had some news that changed my mind.

If you're so moved -- and don't feel obliged to -- you can throw a little money in the hat here:
