For seeing Ryder and Sehwag bat in a day, it was a little disappointing, cricket-wise.
I did have a lot of fun on my first day at the basin, but honestly, we went to the wrong day - should have gone Friday when the weather was nice (Spot the optimistic Aucklander in the shorts!) and we were taking Indian wickets, not losing them left right and centre.
You can't know that, though, that's test cricket I guess. Catching a sneaky look now on the telly of our 'run chase', it looks pretty grim down there.
Ben from Crucket has written the day up too.

The best Twitter explaination I've heard is 'CB radio for nerds'.
Or, this video should clear everything up.

Nice post. I've walked the munter / nerd tightrope for most of my adult life, and probably fallen off on both sides at one time or another. While I enjoy geeking out / reading and writing about sport, I also LOVE getting along to matches in the flesh, drinking heavily, eating fried food and being a munter. It's fun.
I say Cricket is the number one nerdy sport, partly because of the opportunity of getting elbow deep inn statistics, and partly because through sledging etc, you can act like a tough guy with little or no chance of anyone actually clocking you.
Or there's this.

How are we looking for the Saturday of the Welllington test, team? I'm keen as, hopefully the weather will be kind...
Oh, and seeing this is 'blatant thread-jack Friday', do any PA readers have any good 'meeting the famous' stories for the Stalkipedia?

There was a great comment on Cricket With Balls about Sehwag - apparantly he says "missed 4' and 'missed 6' when his team mates defend or leave deliveries. He simply sees the game differently to everyone else. He's in that Gilchrist / Klusner group of being just waaay out there in style and attitude.
Vettori knew we were done for v early on on Wednesday night, OK the weather didn't help, but woah - that game will be a real low point for Dan and the team.

Me again, IMHO there is nothing sadder than when a human tragedy unfolds at a sporting event and the commentators are suddenly thrust into the unfamiliar and uncomfortable role of news reporter. That just kills me. Ref: Hillsborough disaster and Bradford fire.

That quote is v. moving Graeme. One Day In September is a worthwhile watch.
I can't add too much that smarter people than me have said already on the Sri Lankan attack. JRod from Cricket With Balls has a couple of great posts here and here.

If I were to organise some kind of get-together* for the PAS readers in Wellington on the Saturday of the India/NZ test match, how many people would want to show up?
I am in for day @ the test and as much of the evening as my leave pass extends to.

Looks like I will be there for the Saturday of the Basin test - would be keen to meet up with you all there too and compare nerdy blogger stories / get pissed.
