  • Field Theory: Numbers Game,

@jackelder, yeah Wiggins can stay there. He's the undisputed Slipstream leader now, there's some great riders in that team (including Millar, my fav) and they'll look after him. Being a great time triallist won't hurt either.

Off topic, but I like their kit too.

@richardllewellyn here's one for your cubicle wall.

  • Field Theory: Numbers Game,

What about that bit where GH went all mental in the coaches' box, about the time the Aussies butchered the try. He looked like he'd discovered an extended family of Wetas in his trou.

Come to think of it, there was awesome swearing from both sets of coaches.

Big sporting stories for me were the All Blacks being not quite as shit as everyone's made out (I was awfully nervous for Stephen Donald), Tom Watson, and Hayden Roulston getting third on Sunday morning's stage.

With the Tour De France, The Open, The Ashes and the Rugger, this was a beautiful, beautiful weekend to spend on your arse. Luckily Auckland turned on some fairly shitty weather to facilitate. Sportreview jr getting sick helped me watch the Ashes climax too; I love that little guy :)

  • Hard News: Swine flu and swearing,

I like this guy - the interview goes swimmingly until about 38 seconds in.

  • Field Theory: Just one point in it,

*Richie* would have known it was six points.

  • Field Theory: Just one point in it,

I don't mind ReUnion, but the quality varies wildly. If it's Richard Loe, or (formerly) John Drake, or someone who can actually analyse a game, I'll watch. If it's Stu - I'm turning over.

Still, if they mentioned the 6 points thing last Wednesday, it turns out the All Blacks don't watch it.

Mebbe they should have told them we need to win by 20.

Anyone watch the Lions? Decent test match, played in the afternoon sunshine. No co-incidence there.

I killed one with a broom, does that count?

Did you use the thin, pointy end or the wide, bristly end?

Sports blogging definitely falls into that Hemmingway / Jack London category, ie 'It may LOOK like sitting slumped in front of a keyboard isn't particularly manly in itself, but I'm just ABOUT to go kill a bear, a marlin or eat some chips'.

As a newish parent I'm going to add 'deal with your first born when they're pissing, shitting and spewing simultaneously without freaking out'.

The manliest thing I've learned how to do lately is fillet a fish. There's death, blood and sharp knives, what's not to like?

I love fishing, and it's important to be able to prepare those scaley little guys for eating if you're going to drag them out of their environment and stick a knife in thier head. Got a great crash course on a work charter boat fishing trip when me and the chaps filleted about 60 snapper one Saturday night.

It makes me feel pretty bloody manly knowing that if anyone was to say "I've got this fish, but don't know what to do with it", I can truthfully say "Do you want me to fillet that fucker?". That's awesome.

Plus, sports blogging has to be pretty manly, would you say Hadyn?

  • Field Theory: An odd morning,

LB is going to cane me for this, but I don't mind Man U. I really like Fergusson, who suppplied my fav ever sporting quote after their 1999 win ("Foootball... bloody hell"). I really like Roy Keane too.

They were a bit shit this morning, though. Barcelona fully deserved the win. I've got some thoughts on my site.
