Hard News: Music: To renew, you first…, in reply to
Have you thought of shipping said finds back ? When I was last in the UK (or one before) I brought back German Pottery and heavy glass objects in my carry on luggage. I walked onto the plane all casual like, like my bag weighed nothing only to reveal myself as weakling of the year when I tried to lift said bag into the overhead compartment. It really was a good thing my thoughts of getting 4 dining chairs into same compartment wasn't going to fly when one discovers just how small those spaces are. T'other had reminded me that it was a com partment not an A partment. Point being, I should have shipped everything back and I wouldn't be regretting those Bertoia chairs now. Shipping around now would also have the benefit of arriving in Auckland around Xmas. You would then be able to carry all that duty free Whiskey back and yes ,your back would thank you too. Win win really.

Busytown: Beware of the Leopard, in reply to
I’ve been telling myself that it’s worth fighting the good fight even when we lose; because in asking all the questions and exposing the shape of the machinery, we help those who come next,
Exactly .It's not just about us . It's about the future of the planet and our standing on it. If we lie down and let the Government and Councils and various agencies( our employees) ride over our concerns, we condone the behaviour. The struggle (and it is) is now set up for you to fail at most turns. We have had legislation and HR people to ensure that we are seen as the enemy. We have spin doctors and PR people who work tirelessly to subdue the people. One of the wonderful things about the internet is that information spreads faster so it is our duty to make as many people as possible aware of all of our personal concerns. ""Viral" is our friend. Keep up the good work Jolisa. It's always a pleasure and interesting to see a Gracewood rear their collective heads. I pass those trees most days of the week. The continuous removal of the Cabbage trees ,the huge Pines bordering the Golf Course and watching them become mulch was disheartening to say the least. Did you know ,the last storm also brought down a Huge tree at the bottom of the Bullock track. That was forces of nature and just one tree of that size made me sad. We have recently lost a couple of hundred trees on our new property .Thankfully mostly Ti Tree . But the huge Kanuka was sad. It's standing on a lean and it will take over the driveway one day but that's nature and acceptable. Human intervention should not be as inconsiderate as the stand at Motat. Stay well. :)

For some citizens it is going to cost a social fortune to retire Auckland.
For me ,it's 4 hours to get back to friends and family so I'll drive when needed but the reality is for us ,that in a couple of years we have made many new friends and friends who know other friends from here in Ak. It really is a very small village in NZ. My 3m dining table has already seen many occasions celebrated. We have no problem filling the chairs and it's quite nice that neighbours etc will travel 15 km to pop over . More than I can say for lots of Aucklanders I know.

How many more decades will this Deep Thought go for?
He's only thinking "quite" deeply so it could all be over by lunchtime. ;)
As soon as you tell someone you sold the house they all start saying ,you could have got more than that now, meaning this week. Thing is we are happy that the person who gets it is going to have a warm dry home for her mum to have to help her with her 3rd child.. We are happy for them, we are happy to sell without real estate fees, the pressure to sell is over. That's all we needed. That's enough. -

its even more important not to offend their potential future bosses.
Oh didums. what a croc. How pathetic are they prepared to go just to ensure that one day they may want another job. A pathetic excuse if ever I heard it. Doesn’t any one have any balls in this country? I’m completely over people saying they have more important crap to deal with. If people engaged in politics and made themselves aware of what is wrong and unacceptable behaviour in the world and actually took on board just how manipulated they are, then maybe, the liars and cheats and thieves that remain in power can be given the sharp shove they need and let someone else have a go. To say the alternative is worse is not a fact. To repeat that mantra is playing into the hands of the liars and cheats. Not one other Party in our Parliament has proven to be a dismal failure. People need to get some facts straight before they crap on. At least if people got with the program we could hold every Politician to a higher standard then journos can do their job properly too.
Sheez, wont somebody think of the journalist is a poor excuse to do a shitty job of it.
Plus Ministers refuse interviews all the time on tv or radio so research should be a priority for the job not cuddling up to a nasty Politician. -

That’s what Christchurch thought
Actually Auckland has had a few in it's time also but Christchurch may have wanted to take note in 1869, 1870, or even 1881 when the Cathedral got damaged. Canterbury has had it's share of earthquakes before 2010
