  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

Sorry George, I meant we people are supposed to be a democracy. Trying to understand all levels of humaness, of which no body is wrong in my book on here at this point. Yes about the advertisers too. :)

  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

Actually, until such time as everybody gets it, no.

But, but, but, choose to go elsewhere. Don't support it. Yes, small, young country with many boundaries to push, just a little slow maybe. I like to think that the digital channels are the beginnings of this, with the likes of RB and Damians "Backbenches" is also a first, with bringing politicians to the public.
I liken it to the days of the small selection of free range eggs. I paid more. I asked for them if they weren't in store and kept asking, then we saw more free range eggs hit the market and voila no longer have to ask.
    Patience is a virtue,
    possess it, if you can,
    always in the women
    seldom in the man
    except for shopping eh? ;)

  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

Have you considered the further possibility that not everyone agrees with you on everything?

This! Has anyone considered the other 4 million odd people in NZ that may want to watch a bit of crap on the box? There is a shitload of telly I don't need and guess what? I don't friggin watch it. DC can think as he likes about PH. RB can too. It's a democracy isn't it?You don't have to agree with them but honestly to suggest their personal view needs correcting, what bloody bus did y'all drive in on? I'd love the News produced to my standards (as I mentioned this here morn)but in a democracy I cant have it all, so I switch or listen to music. I don't want to get all jiggy about the amount of bullshit I find because I'm no more important than anyone else and their preferences may just be a pile of steaming to me, but worthwhile to them. Why would I want the argument, honestly. How good is that gonna make you feel. Freeview has really helped to personalise needs and eliminate unwanted TV. Bloody good start eh? Check it out. Could be right up your alley. Eliminate all the bits you don't want without leaving your armchair, but I suppose for some, that leaves more room for arguments. hmmm... ;)
    Jus' sayin

  • Cracker: A Whale of a Tale,

It's almost as though the vaguely lefty, snooty, intellectual audience of PAS loathes and despises the TV news

I'd suggest (without classifying anyone) that the TV News has a slot that could actually deal with the news in the order of importance,(to indicate news, not current affairs) then, follow with all the fluff they want, and call it the News and Current Affairs. I doubt very much that the family victims of horrific murders want to be first up and hounded for the evening, or the weather. The facts, and not speculation from the niece of the neighbour over the back fence.Or the go to shot in the dark to talk about the weather because we need to see the rain that is everywhere.
I think if we just need current affairs (where laughs are de rigeur) as I assume Paul Henry does (I find it difficult to watch TV in the morning, so don't) and he gets ratings that TVNZ want, their choice, simple as that really, and one knows just what to do if you find him a dirty little grub. Change the bloody channel! , then ratings could change and so could he.
Yes, I do want and like the News ,just don't want to lower my expectations and respect that these worldly issues deserve.

  • Cracker: That's Not My Name,

and the dumbing down of the news predates the Fox News ascendancy by quite some time.

Why and who is responsible for this dumbing down, and why was it so necessary, or is it just fashionable? I'd suggest then, that Fox's name/ reputation and their rubbish peddled has given rise to much of the same behaviour in worldwide trash telly and frankly, it's insulting to intelligence. Don't y'all think now?

  • Cracker: That's Not My Name,

Couldn’t sleep last night for the smell of oil

Yes, it's rather hard to watch each night on the News as a snippet of world information against a plethora of our (NZ) important issues. I mean, never mind, Gaza, how about the Rugby, the football, and murder and weather. For someone who has never watched Sainsbury, but have noted comments now and before on these here threads, I can see why the format of his show is sensationalist. It, follows the News which seems to have the same mindless sameness. Isn't this modern programming? (and I'd thank Fox) Isn't this why Dad brought the kids on in the first place? Isn't it our duty to comment?
Meanwhile, more wildlife washes up on the sands of US tourist spots.

    " Out damn'd spot"
    Mabeth, Act 5. Scene 1.

ahh damn it I’ve made myself look concerned.

    And then that happens. :)

To be fair, he seems to have trouble considering almost any idea.

    Fair? Fair you say??? ;)

  • Hard News: Alone at Party Central,

    - economics of small runs not compelling, or something like that

Not so, A small t shirt shop in St Lukes does one offs but that was a while back when I used them, plus 2 Double 7 has an embroidery shop for t shirts and I think I paid about $7 for work there. It really is more, a into g I think.

(I've given up arguing with cab drivers unless I'm very, very bored, because it can make for an uncomfortable ride when you disagree with their considered opinions)

I'd say good advice for anyone to follow Damian, considering the latest incident in the UK. Jus' sayin'

  • Hard News: Blog About Cat,

Ha! Was just thinking about Colin pinned and rather strategically poised on the curtain in the boys room with a comment from Leo. "Hmm, don't think he's done that before".
Here was Stella just in for a visit and proceeding to make friends, with the afterthought I am sure, 'Well that didn't work." Gotta love the cool pets. :))

  • Hard News: Blog About Cat,

    Unless you're an Alsation

Or Colin, the cat, but in defence, only wanted to make friends. :)

People can be really really stupid - and selfish-

Aye. Everywhere you look, there they go.
