It's part of the reason why the only measurements I trust are done by third parties

Perhaps we can measure each other's, right before we compare notes?

  • Hard News: Anatomy of a Shambles,

The union advised Warners on Sunday (their time) that they had asked the Screen Actors Guild to lift any “don’t work” orders in place. A statement has been prepared by Equity but Warners have asked to control the time of the release and have delayed several days. We understand Wingnut were aware of this when they met with Technicians last night but failed to pass on this information.

This paragraph from Kelly's release is pretty key. If all three of those points are true then there is still some credibility on the union side. If they're false then they've dug themselves further into a hole.

  • Hard News: Anatomy of a Shambles,

    Bummer.

I'm not sure if it will damage the union movement too much, though Helen Kelly might be damaged within CTU circles.

I think actor's credibility and any future claims they make have been horrendously damaged. And Actors Equity might need gutting if it's to get back to something worth having.

I mean, can you guys honestly say you've never measured it? And compared notes?

I certainly have never compared notes with another guy, though I have had a couple try and compare notes with me.

Which I just found weird, mostly because I didn't really believe them. "Yeah sure. And you never masturbated either."

breathe without the aide of suppositories

I think that's called farting. Breathing happens at the other end.

Safari can’t open the page “feed://www.listener.co.nz/sm/rss/latestissue.rss”. The error is: “The feed could not be loaded because the content is not in a known feed format.” (PubSub:2)

Worked fine for me in google reader.

Does this guideline also apply to Investigate magazine?

I don't mind people slagging off the Listener or Investigate or the Herald or anything else.

Slagging off one writer as shit because their husband works for a political party? Lets off all the other shit writers whose partner doesn't work in politics.

And also all those writers who have strong political leanings which affect their journalism but they're not as obvious because they're not labelled through their marriage.

  • OnPoint: Did you know we're in a recession?,

technically... yes... but in reality. no.

Actually technically yes, and in reality yes. Just by not as much, as you point out.

Which means, as I said, that's it's a far more complex story shown in Keith's graphs.

For median income to drop at the same time as average income rising, a whole bunch of lower incomes must have dropped off the data AND median band incomes must have dropped. The former must have been particularly significant, for average incomes to rise while median incomes fell.

What you have missed is that English stated wages are higher. What a journalist should have done was note that English has used average wages which are distorted and the better measure is median wages. When both numbers are shown it is obvious that average wages are only higher because low wage earners have lost their jobs.

If low earners lose their jobs the median wage will rise as well (all other things remaining equal).

Keith's graph actually shows something more complex than that.

Now what will I read in from the listener in supermarket cues?

You could take your networked device of choice along and go to www.listener.co.nz while cu/queu-ing?

While I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment and have first-hand experience of same, based on her writings for over a decade, I doubt Joanne Black and her husband would have too much to argue about......if you know what I mean.

Personally I can't imagine choosing a partner whose political views were completely opposed to mine.

If people don't like the Listener they could not buy and read it, or criticise the content, as compared to being rude about one of the writers.
