My special needs son requires a full time aide to attend school. At present he doesn't get this. The hours he does have are topped up with an ORRS grant. A contestable grant that may or may not be provided on an ongoing basis. He loses a half day a week every week now, and could easily lose up to two full days per week.
Score me as another parent who condones their child's truancy. Fine me, jail me, call me names.

Yachts are money sinks.
Helps if one works for the Hospital, Kyle...;-)

The first broken promise was shelving the ERA, but at least they could blame Act for that. This is very poor.
Seems if it was at all mentioned prior to the election...National claims it has a mandate.

and somebody (Collins?) said it would be volunary on both sides
yeah right. A prospective employee determines not to 'voluntarily agree' and is still going to be hired?

"Last week, the Maori Party caucus decided we would not support the 90-Day Employment Probation Bill introduced by National MP, Wayne Mapp, and that we would vote against it when it comes back to the House. ...'
I seem to remember hearing a report that the Bill is a softened down version of Mapp's Bill. This, no doubt, will allow the Maori Party wiggle room to change their previously held position on it.
And there could be baubles at stake too, yanno.

There almost seems to be a concerted effort in being the best team in between World Cups
Frankly ,I tire of the 'best team inbetween the Cup' line.
The nature of a knock out tournament is such that the best team need not be the team that wins the thing. An off day, a crook ref, a team having a blinder, illness ,injury etc...any one or all of these can contribute to an unexpected loss or win. There is a concerted effort to be the best team ..at any time. Why else bother?

I haven't seen a single candidate here at the door in Dunedin North
Me neither in Dunedin South,Paul. I did nearly run over some Labour people hanging around the Oval where the motorway ends...
And I wouldn't recognise Claire Curren to run over.

A bit of a hijack, but I see the Standard blog has a video a reader took when he was stopped by a plain-clothes cop after asking a leftwing question to John Key at a campaign event.
When did this become police proceedure?

Presumably then, National will enact a conservative religious based policy on 'morals' and begin to repeal all the 'social engineering' legislation? Should they form the Govt.
