  • Jackie Clark,

I've been thinking of her all day, as I'm sure we all have. She's a splendid woman, and we are all very lucky to know her.

Wayne (one of the surgeons) tells us it has been a successful operation

    Really happy to hear that.

  • Joe Wylie,

She gets to be woken up every hour and tested to make sure all the appropriate bits of her brain are still working, so she's pretty knackered.

Funny, I skimmed through that a bit hastily and read it as " woken up every hour and teased to make sure all the appropriate bits of her brain are still working".

Whatever it takes, great news, all the best.

  • Deborah,

I'm still concerned about this bit...

all the appropriate bits of her brain are still working

... but I guess that all of us are. The elephant in the room, maybe. I'm scared about it, for Emma and for her beloved partner and children. It's a hell of a thing to be going through, and I still have lots of atheist sceptical vibes making their way across the Tasman to her.

to make sure all the appropriate bits of her brain are still working

I'm an admirer of the many inappropriate bits of Emma's brain, and hope they remain fully functional as well.

    Speedy recovery, Emma.

  • Paul Williams,

I was cowardly waiting for Jackie to post so I could write: "what she said". Will be hanging out for updates.

Me too.... and then I read to the end of the thread and discover all PAS's combined arohanui might just have helped. Warm-feelings-all-over.

So glad you seem on the upside of the de-Adricisation Emma.

Ah yes. Good point. I will flip Adric the double bird instead.

  • Sofie Bribiesca,

    @ Deborah
The surgeon is the one to listen to, the other half is her support and Emma will do the rest. Time is on her side. She'll get through.

  • Emma Hart,

Finally managed to login as Emma here.

    Emma status: slow going

Emma's still quite weak and nauseous, and is not well enough to play on the interwebs today, maybe tomorrow the kind nurses will let her out to play with all you nice guys and girls.

Her brain appears to be fine. A certain scathing wit, of which you are all familiar, is resurfacing which I am sure is a good sign.

It's her body that's having a hard time of it at the moment.
She's had very little sleep, due to patients who are less well than she is. May sympathy goes out to them all along with my the screams in my head of "Shut the fuck up, my partner needs peace and quiet", but still the rambling, snoring, beeping continues unabated.

She's on the road to recovery, and is looking stronger each time I see her. But it's going to be a while before she's back anywhere near 100%.

If you're really lucky it'll be Emma that makes the next post, and then you can hear it all first hand.

Hi Karl, as long as it takes is fine by me but appreciate the updates. I bet you are tired too. Get some sleep man and you can tell her how good it is :)
Take care of yourselves, send her my love, Cheers

  • Jackie Clark,

Thanks for the update, Karl. And Sofie is right. She knows about these things. Get some rest - when you are a support person, you need to be on your toes, which is a little hard when you keep dozing off! Big hugs to you.

  • Emma Hart,

    How is the eye sight?

As far as I can tell, her eyesight is at least as good as it was before. There was a good chance (10-20%) that the tumor shared the same blood vessel as the optic nerve, and if it did then she would loose all sight in her right eye. Once they got in there they could tell it had just surrounded the blood vessel but was not using it, and so they managed to remove it without damage to the nerve.

Once Emma is up and about again they'll run some more eye tests and see if she's actually gained some sight due to the relief in pressure on the nerve. If so then bonus points to the surgeons, but I for one am just happy she's not blind/dead/vegitablized.

Emma really appreciates the feedback. She cannot wear her glasses at the moment, due to the bandages on her head, so she cannot read this first hand. But I'll be reading this lot to her soon (I'll try not to give you all funny voices).

Yeah that 's what my man did for 5 weeks, (coma time, I suspect he still wonders. ;). Emma seems to have an inner strength that I believe was obvious to Adric from the get go and death was inevitable so of course she has won the war. Takes time but mine wasn't eye, just brain, so hopefully she is a speedy Gonzales.

Can I have a husky french accent please?
