It would be interesting to know if this is an LAQC (Loss Adjusted Qualifying Company) – they’re incorporated and approved by the IRD to record losses.
It is my understanding the LAQC benefits have been screwed down significantly over the past couple of years……..

Dave Stewart is not and has never been an attractive young woman with a worldwide hit before the age of majority. When his music career started, there sure as hell wasn't anything we'd call social media - just the music press. These days, he's nearly always just a back room knob twiddler (er, excuse the phrase), and no-one pays attention to those unless they're close to the trade or the person concerned makes a point of seeking out celebrity.
Yes, maybe someone young and attractive who becomes internationally well-known in music these days can avoid sleb hype, but it would be very difficult.
I don't blame most of them for putting themselves out there on social media in an attempt to craft their own image before it gets imposed on them. Frankly, I wish that some of them learned much faster how to present their image (and that that image should be - sorry for the hackneyed term - carefully curated for public consumption).

LAQCs don't exist anymore. They used to be pretty effective vehicle for transferring losses to owners (shareholders) so that owners could deduct the losses from their other income (eg. salary and wages) and get a reduced tax bill. But they got turned into Qualifying Companies from 1 April 2011, and since then, you haven't been able to set up new Qualifying Companies either.
The new version is a Look Through Company - LTC. They're also a pretty effective vehicle for transferring losses to owners (shareholders), but they're a bit more transparent, and some of the jiggery-pokery that you could engage in with LAQCs has been removed.
So that will be why you've heard that LAQC benefits have been screwed down in the last few years.

This stuff is vital! I’ve occasionally skirmished with people who talk about income inequality, and especially how it has more-or-less evened out in NZ and isn’t increasing.
As far as I can make out, the data for, eg GINI all comes from the tax dept, and it’s not gross income, it’s taxable income. The first thing anyone with money does is get a good tax accountant. There are a bunch of ways to minimise your tax – in a country with no CGT it’s child’s play.
It seems pretty clear that wealth in NZ – and especially since property went ballistic – is far less equal than the GINI indicates.

I pulled out Deborah's arguments about secondary taxation a while ago in conversation with relatives who thought it was terribly unfair. Always useful to have some reality inserted into subject that everyone has opinions about but few people have expertise in. Yay taxnerds.

Actual lolz that Stuff's story is basically 400 words based on celeb tweets.
Though it promises a slight external focus by concluding "Mediaworks has been approached for comment.".

There’s a serious undertone, I thought. I get the sense Mediaworks news staff are pretty deeply unhappy. I’d be surprised if Jennings doesn’t feel extremely queasy about ‘Scout’.
There’s an ‘End of Days’ feel about TV3 at the moment. Unlike Christie and Weldon, I think Jennings has the character to go down with the ship. -

I'd be very surprised, especially if Damian Christie's right about the 6pm news being preceded by five minutes of Scout content.

You know, for years, Jennings ran a newsroom where hardly anyone left, even for better money. Look at what's happening now.
I've even heard horror stories about management from inside the marquee event productions. Weldon and Christie are burning the place down in pursuit of their bonuses.
But let us not forget that a lot of good people still work there and are doing their best to do good work. Bomber slapping himself on the back because his thinks his boycott is working is a pretty tragic sight.

It's a little curious. Hosking probably rang, they discussed the new show, she was stuck for an exclusive, he said - if you're desperate, and you've got a stringer handy, I'll pop out to vacuum my Italian dream car.

Story just did a puff piece promoting National Party spin doctor Bill Ralston as a candidate for the Auckland City Council next year. Had a whole lot of stupid clichés about council spending across NZ worthy of the ACT party (but only in towns where the mayor is mildly left wing). Political agenda definitely showing.

Absolutely! I shall refer to it as such. To be honest though ,I can't think of anything more vile than having any of my attention wasted on such a sick concept as this is. I mean, how low is TV3 prepared to go? This country seems more surreal by the day.
The herald is heading that way too. If one doesn't want celebrity news on their site and you click news , it's sport. WTF? -
