  • Hard News: Policy, finally,

I’m disappointed that a group of people who are largely smarter and better informed than me can’t see beyond their own dashboard. It’s really kind of sad and self serving.

Er, but surely if we're "largely smarter and better informed than [you]" then --by definition-- it must be you that is wrong. We have looked so far ahead that we have come back to a position just behind the dashboard.

Why do we want to go to Mars again?

yes, there's a conspiracy there somewhere. Why are the rich taking space flights? Why is the US spending so much money on space exploration? Do they know something about this planet's future that we don't?

Yup, it's something I noticed about driving a loud muscle car. I never had even the slightest whiff of anyone stepping/cycling in front of me. Children would look up from the ball they were chasing. Dogs would veer back to the footpath. Cyclists would pull over.

And the foxy ladies would pull their skirts up just a little bit higher ...

We should be thankful, I suppose, about Moses' fit of pique that destroyed a whole load of other commandments

If God had of wanted Moses to carry more than two Tablets He would have given him four arms. Further proof of Intelligent Design -- as if more were needed.

At the moment, my pet peeve is that it's cheaper to drive to town and pay parking than it is to catch the bus - sigh.

Which is why the greenies want changes. It's cheaper to go by car because you are not really paying for the true cost of running your car. Hence the carbon tax. Once that is factored in you may well find it cheaper to catch a bus to work. They might be belching diesel dinosaurs but their carbon tax while be met by ratepayers to ensure tickets remain cheaper.

If we really want to get serious about getting people to use buses we should introduce Random Slapping at traffic lights. On designated mornings Police should force drivers stuck in rush hour traffic to wind down their windows and receive an open handed slap to the face (delivered with reasonable force only, and without malice). Drivers wouldn't know where or when they might be randomly selected to receive this negative reinforcement and it may work well to force even the most intransient onto public transport.

I found this site following RB's link to Spare Room's link to another vid on CollegeHumor.com

Do we need another I/V with FOTC ?? Your call, but the interview is funny, and the site itself has some chuckles. Check out their trailer for Minefield - the Movie!

whilst waiting at Broadcasting House reception he jumped up & gave one of the potplants a jolly good watering in front of stunned on-lookers. It was a classic Jordan Luck moment. Not sure whether the potplant survived.

Probably not. A concentrated dose of urea in a small pot would not have done it much good (unless it was plastic?)(the plant, not the pot).

I had to stop pissing off the back terrace late at night (why do our blardy wives take sooo long in the bathroom!) because I noticed the grass was starting to brown off.

  • Radiation: Television hell,

Unfortunately, real life, in other words, my job, keeps getting in the way of blogging

What is this thing you call real life?? It sounds interesting. Tell me more Human!

I kind of like that even if the blog posts are a bit late, the telly fiends among us can fill in the gaps with our own picks.

That's what I found so fascinating about this one, when I first logged in. It seemed so minimalist! I'm seriously waiting for Fiona to one day blog "Some good stuff on telly this week" and leave it at that. I bet that would garner the most comments ever (we don't need much prodding)!

I'm looking forward to getting round to watching Sex Inspectors. I used to love some lame British 'sex advice' show that Graeme Norton got his start on a few (many) years back. (Too lazy to google the title).

As for that 'Why A Woman Can't Be President' skit on The Daily Show the other night -- yeah it was really funny but I also couldn't help wishing she'd asked the black female republican pundit (who was explaining why a female wasn't tough enough to run the country) "so what's your view on Reagan's best bud, Maragaret Thatcher?"
