And, Helen Kelly just said there could have been better communication from Actors Equity (on 3 news).

Honestly, Sofie, those are words Kelly should repeat while looking in a mirror. Have a great deal of respect for her, but not as much as I had a week ago.

Chris Trotter rails against Peter Jackson:

Step away from the Trotter, Mister King. It causes hair loss, blisters, infertility and occasional fits of homicidal mania.

Those who support strong unions have every reason to call out incompetence like this.

You could argue that "those who support strong unions" have more reason to do so. After all, when your enemies are obligingly blowing off their toes one by one why stop the show?

Later on, once shooting was underway, the union tried to get Charles Mesure blocked from working on it because he had been working in the States.

Excuse me? Mesure shot TINML between stints on V, a union show and I presume did so with either a SAG card or a union-sanctioned waiver in his back pocket.

Double irony points: Boycott supporter Karl Urban will be on movie screens everywhere next Thursday in Red; and he's probably going to walk straight off the set of Dredd into the next Star Trek flick. Guess he's never going to work in this town again...

umm, once again...no-one ever said there was a lynch mob. she was refering to the mood, and despite what that video shows, it may still have existed.

Hey, Alan, I'm not calling you a cunt just saying you're in a cunt-y mood. Is that less offensive and troll-ish?

And, FFS, do I actually have to man-splain what a lynch mob is? The "mood" the kind of folks who went out seeking to decorate their Christmas trees with dead niggers was, quite literally, murderous. Kelly knows that. You know that. I wish you'd stop being so damn cute, because it's moved beyond tiresome and is now offensively disingenuous.

  • Radiation: Not funny,

Not sure what you mean by 'cluster fuck' other than ladies with their bums and tits out and the guys drooling.

Um, I've had raw tofu with more flavour. The problem with the 'Funk' episode of Glee last season is that the show's Autotuned into oblivion cast (and the bland arrangements) are about as funky as Pat Boone. Kiddies, you're going to do Rocky Horror rock it or fuck off.

Looks like Warner Bros have been "disingenuous" (as they say in Parliament).

@SimonG: Really? Interesting how heavily qualified NatRadio is in that story - "appears", "not clear" aren't words they drop into a story for the sake of euphony.

I'm also cautious about chain e-mails until that Nigerian business man put the $15m he promised into my suspiciously empty bank account.

Also: I may be way behind the curve on this, but thoroughly enjoyed Being Human on Prime the other night.

Indeed - elegantly simple premise, engaging cast and consistently good writing. I'm also hoping the backdoor pilot is going to be included on the DVD -- Tovey is the only member of the central trio who made it from pilot to series, and the tone is considerably more gothic.

What I didn't enjoy so much was Prime "teasing" the series weeks back with a behind the scenes doco that methodically, comprehensively spoiled EVERY major character beat and plot turn to come.

Makes me want to bite someone...

Fair enough perhaps - but that still doesn't suggest a pre-existing plan to take the films out of New Zealand, does it?

Nope - and if there was, Warners didn't need to "beat up" an industrial dispute to relocate Green Lantern from Sydney to Louisiana.

  • Hard News: Anatomy of a Shambles,

Out of interest -- when was the last time one of the above directed a film shot in Mexico?

Um, Pan's Labyrinth was produced and distributed by a Mexican company (owned by Curaon) with Mexican key crew and department heads. It was, granted, shot in Spain with Spanish actors, but I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

the new season of Glee is on its way. Squee!

Meh, the Rocky Horrible episode looks like another 'Funk' style cluster fuck not even the beyond fabulous Jane Lynch can redeem.

This is an act of war, and we can't let the terrorists win...
