Oh dear: Tom Fruwen has an interesting article about mockumentaries...NZ on Air, The OZ Gold Coast and international companies usurping the system.

The revelation of $104,594 of NZ on Air funding for coverage of last month’s Anzac dawn service is particularly risible. An alliance of local opportunists and a multinational providing grotesquely overpriced 'public' programming that we thought our $60 million a year to Maori TV had already paid for.

    And this.

You certainly got the right JB pic there.
Was there ever a more queasiness-inducing smile in NZ politics?

Scandal-embroiled John Banks and Winston Peters were joined at the hip on the way to Wellington. Don't they make a sweet pair?

I think it was Denis Welch who described them as the two horsemen of the socialist apocalypse back in their 80s opposition days.
Back together again like Hall & Oates.

. . . that time I got helicoptered out to the Crisco mansion where I met an obese Bond villain . . .

Sounds remarkably like a kiddie witness account from the Christchurch Civic Creche case.

For as long as I can recall, right back to the days when he used to fill in for the ailing Muldoon on Radio Pacific, Banks couldn't open his yap without using the words 'disgrace' or 'disgraceful'. It seemed to suddenly stop when the yammering prissiness gave way to loony evasiveness.

This issue arose because when Kim Dotcom was having a bad time in prison he asked who the local MP was, and on learning it was his friend JB asked him to help him out.

Wouldn't that be more likely to be simply calling in a past favour?
If you wanted an MP's help while incarcerated, wouldn't you contact the member from wherever you'd normally vote, rather than for the electorate in which you're currently held? I don't recall Rodney Hide building a profile as a prison visitor during his time as MP for Epsom.

The Egypt necrophilia hoax. Goodness me.
Now that it's no longer possible to conceal the stench of ACT's rotting carcass I can see the connection with Banks.

To me Banks is still the same guy who back in the early 90s advocated exploiting the high proportion of incarcerated Maori by establishing a prison-based souvenir industry. I don't believe that he ever resiled from that.
