It's like deja vu all over again.
I've written to some contacts at the local liberal rag to alert them to his presence. (Today's headline should show how much they like to stick it to conservative fucktards).
If it's a slow news day, they might just take pot shots at a circus act from the anitpodes.

Well that's obviously the reason for our low productivity and lack of ambition then. No need to improve management skills or any of that socialist fluff.
If I read Kiwiblog correctly, it's because 4 out of 5 teenage girls prefer to get pregnant and stay home "living the life" on the DPB. The rest of us are prohibitively taxed to support such largesse. Ergo, there's no point working.
Or something like that.
On another note, the Canadian Tories' love of self-promotion is something to behold.

I'm hearing John Key was in agreement with the ARC powers that be that the Hide boundaries for the SC (the external limits that is) are no good and the existing ones are more sensible. Especially given the upper limits have been sucked in nice and tight so developers can rip the Kaipara and surrounds to bits given the lack of resourcing up north to process resource consents from aforementioned developers (who were the ones writing in submissions left right and centre on where the boundaries should be funnily enough).
Not to mention the regional parks would be utterly ridiculous if they were put in the hands of councils whose ratepayers barely used them. Word on the street there is that they will stay as part of the SC, but seriously who the f knows with a bunch of idiological twats on the rampage.

Gossip is so much simpler when there's only one decent beach. :)
Scorching Bay is our best beach, we have a few other quite nice beaches (Days Bay, umm Lyall Bay). So there!
Also, in any here slightly irked that Trevor Mallard has said he hopes English doesn't loose his job because Steven Joyce would do a better job as finance minister. Now, I have no idea what sort of job anyone would do as finance minister, I don't know the first thing about it. But it just annoys me that an MP would openly celebrate mis-management of our nations economy as it suits his political aspirations.

I interpreted Mallard as making a joke at English's expense. I'm not sure any more ought be made of it than that, really.

Other places have already been "supersized". Dunedin City was amalgamated with 4 local boroughs, and Silverpeaks county, the Ocean Beach Domain Board, and The Dunedin Drainage and Sewage Board, in 1989. Mind you, Dunedin City has been swallowing local boroughs, and the occasional county, since the early 1900s.

Hardly comparable. Dunedin has ~ 122K people while Waitakere, smallest of the four existing Ak cities has over 200K people and the new superAuckland will be 10 times the size of Dunedin,
But 'swallowing local boroughs' for 100 years? What an appetite.

Imagine one supercouncil for the whole bottom of the South Island and you're getting close. Just as your local DHBs have been effectively merging for some time.

And Dunedin will have a few "local boards" to represent your interests.

Why bother with all these smaller "super cities". Judge Dredd already has all of New Zealand labelled New Pacific City. Works for me.

There might be a good news story to come - maybe Sir Roger will stage a leadership coup while Rodney is grandstanding overseas. That should be enough to scare even the Epsom voters.
