If anyone's in the vicinity, could you be a dear and pop down and throttle him for me?
On my way.

Oh come on RB; an election wouldn’t be an election without toe-curling stuff like that from Dunne.
Do you think he has a chuckle when he comes up with stuff like that, or is he just too far gone? -
Although the Herald's effort, posted 1 min earlier, does contain the first third-party comment. Rodney Hide, of course.
Just like to point out that the "posted time" on a story on the Herald site is not necessarily a reliable indicator of its availability.

sounds like the Greens won't be of any use to me in that task.
Just realised that sounds a lot more aggressive than I intended! Simply meant that if the Green candidates are not seriously running for local representation, then I will be focussing on those that are for that half of the voting form.
While I'm aware there's all kinds of tactical voting implications around the local rep, I've decided to not even bother trying to understand those and rather vote for an individual that I believe will make a good representative for us. -

Oooh! Website smackdown!
iirc, there was a few lines from their staff, then something more like a story. I'm pretty sure Stuff was there first with a story.

"Agenda" Links Up With University
Right-o -- so that will be around 90 seconds on Sunday morning? How about hooking Agenda up with a decent timeslot, say one less brain-deadening visit with Mark Sainsbury a week (and no, Corrie fans, it wouldn't be the end of the world if the whole world didn't revolve around your soap)?

United Future, as the voice of the silent majority, will keep the next government on track, allowing it to earn that trust."

Far out, we need to start the drinking game already? I may not make it to November.

On my way.
But try not to muss the hair!

Want some election-related entertainment? Go to google.co.nz, type in "clueless", then hit "I'm feeling lucky".

You're kidding me? I'm Italian. We know how it's done.

I got imdb. I presume you mean tick "Pages from New Zealand" before you do that.
Or you're an unusually keen fan of Alicia Silverstone :> -
Tai Toka is a possibility (for Labour rather than the Maori Party) dependent on a different candidate- Okeroa has rather benefitted from the still-existant pro-Labour choice of a lot of Kai Tahu - but he done much to really earn re-election...we'll see, we'll see-
Something else to factor in: Ron Mark is appreciated in the South-
-
o gag - "Okeroa *hasnt* done much" etc.
-
BTW, Lyndon the quote from the press release had me ROTFLMAO - and not in a good way.
In a new segment called "Fact Finder" each week the post-graduate students, under the direction of Senior Lecturer, Dr Jennifer Curtin, will research statements made by politicians during the campaign and investigate their accuracy.
And just to add insult to injury:
The programme is also seeking to involve "citizen journalists" this election. In a new segment called "Campaign Cam" it is asking viewers to send in their handy cam and mobile phone videos of politicians and political candidates on the campaign trail.
Well, we don't want to burden (let alone hire and properly resource) journalists or camera crews with any fucking work, do we? Not after we blew the budget sending a troop of barely house-trained monkeys to Beijing to make fools of themselves.

Sorry, I've already got my hands full with the commentators.
How about a new drinking game? You can only have a slug when one of the Interpreters For Idiots tells you something you hadn't already worked out for yourself, and actually provides new information or an original insight.
Think of the benefits for your body and budget.

Or you're an unusually keen fan of Alicia Silverstone :>No, as I said, tick "I feel lucky". Make sure it's "clueless" with a small c and you use quote marks.
Make sure to use google.co.nz not google.com, too.
-
Grant - still the same? IMDB. Weird.
I'll STFU up now, I'm ruining your joke :> -
I've got a brand new iMac24 with Creative Suite 3.3 that I've just started up. I've forgotten all about the election.

No, as I said, tick "I feel lucky". Make sure it's "clueless" with a small c and you use quote marks.
Google searches aren't case sensitive, even if you put quotation marks.

"The Prime Minister says this will be an election about who you can trust - she is right. United Future, as the voice of the silent majority, will keep the next government on track, allowing it to earn that trust."
The evil of banality. (Hat tip to John Ralston Saul who likewise tips Arendt.)
If anyone's in the vicinity, could you be a dear and pop down and throttle him for me?
As John Cooper Clark put it in a rant with a four-letter title beginning and ending in "T", "I'd consider killing you I thought you were alive."
He showed up at some wine and cheese thing at my student hostel back in the eighties and he looked like a washed-out monochrome photo of himself even then. Grey suit, grey tie, grey.... shoes ... The horror, the horror.

Nothing out of the ordinary there, in fact it seems one of the mouth-frothers now has their own blog on stuff. Maybe they ran a competition.

Jokes just don't work when you have to explain them...
google.co.nz
check 'search pages from New Zealand'
type in clueless
Hit 'I'm feeling lucky.'
Worked for me...

I'll be sick and bleating if our new Government includes Gerry Brownlee, Nick Smith, Tony Ryall, Lockwood Smith . . . arghhhh! I can't go on!
Don't forget Maurice.

Meanwhile, where would we be without some Friday Fun from Chris Trotter doing a Sarah Palin impersonation:
The talk-back callers and blog-crawlers whom National is so willing to unleash upon its enemies represent the obverse face of New Zealand conservatism. The smiling, cheerful and - most importantly, fresh - face of John Key is the face National’s strategists want the electorate to focus on. The other face, with its grotesquely distorted features, and its barely suppressed emotional violence , they do their best to keep hidden.
Jesus fuck, Chris, do you actually listen to these "talk-back callers and blog-crawlers" -- many (if not most) of them hate gutless, "Labour-lite" John Key as much as Helen Clark. Which strikes me as a rather odd posture for Tory sock puppets to take, don't you think?
Still, nice attempt to pull a Palin -- paint yourself as a victim of the biased media and the evil shadowy"they". Just like those decent human beings (who just happen to vote like you).
