Paul Dowden, in reply to
Ditto on not liking Comic Sans. I also teach, it makes my skin crawl (the font, not education). (now I really am late!)
-
I very much approve - with the exception of the Typekit problem which others have already noted. Good to have a button to make it evaporate. And there does seem to be a lot of white space, just shifted to the right rather than the left as in System.
But it's fantastic that posts and comments are now integrated, there's room for proper photos/pictures, and the font isn't going to slowly send me blind... will enjoy getting used to this. :)

Yes, I like it - looks pretty, and feels good.

HORansome, in reply to
Yeah. I've never used Comic Sans in lecture slides but I did tend to use Arial, which is just as bad for dyslexics ("I" and "l"). We kind of forget (or sometimes don't even know) just how hard it is for people with dyslexia to deal with written material, especially written material which might only be on screen for a short amount of time.

Do not like.
Sorry. No offence; I appreciate all the work and all, but... I gotta keep it real.
Shhhh. Dude. It's like a baby . If you wish not to offend, you oughtn't say "I do not like that baby." Inoffensive alternatives include "Would you look at that baby!" or "Well, that is some baby."

Very nice! Love the larger font for my poor old eyes
Oh - and ditto the pages for the top please :) -
Heh, I just edited a typo I made in a comment from four years ago.

Thanks for pointing out the disable typekit button Ben, even in Chrome the text was hideous.
otherwise an awesome upgrade, props to russ

Oh yeah - me too!
Functionality or defect?
-
I just worked out how to edit. Tricky little button, playing peek-a-boo with me like that! :-D

Is it time for the Friday video yet?
A coworker of mine is leaving town. He and a couple of mates put together a quick film about how much they love Wellington:
-
Thanks for all the feedback, folks. I'm in no position to do much about it today, but it is being noted.

The do-not-likers remind me of the outrage that happens every single time Facebook updates its design.
Groups form of angry people who hate the new design and vow to boycott it. But they eventually get used to the new design and forget they used to hate it. And then along comes a new redesign and another protest group is formed...

And logically if you were to rewind the chain of complaints, you should eventually get to a version of Facebook that was PERFECT.

Re: Wellington Love Letter.
That was excellent. Fantastic cheese, and I think I'm pregnant. lol.
-
Nice. I really like it to be able to see everyone's gravatars so clearly. That's splendid!
-
3410,
Damn. Having just read some of my oldest comments, it's clear that I was significantly smarter three years ago than now, for some reason.
-
"Do-not-likers" = Outrage?
Personally, I'm ambivalent. I like some things, and other things are showing up a bit buggy in my browser. So why not tell the architects about those bugs; or about what might have gone missing in the wash - like the ability to go directly to a thread page instead of clicking back or forwards endlessly? *shrug*

PS More kittehs and I'm out of here.
Moar kittehs! MOAR!
I'm determined to bring the tone of this place right down.
I Cornified it, but now I can't figure out how to post my screen shot... :(
PS You can thank Andre for the cornifying. -
Looks very nice, Russell, and the larger gravatars mean I can see what some of those icons actually are:) Also, is all the graphical integration part of a master plan to enable "Kitteh ov da day!" photos ?

You didn't stop while doing it and think "I need to get out more?" ;)

I know there's still an issue with Gravatar not updating correctly. If you've changed your email address since first registering with PAS, Gravatar won't update your icon on here when you update it via the Gravatar website. I've had a display pic with Gravatar since 2007, but I'm reasonably sure I first signed up to PAS with my old work email addy rather than my Gmail.
I'm honestly not this grey in real life.

Omg, I’m loving the cornified. The way it rainbows up my cursor movements is just like tripping the light fantastic across multiple universeses; and the sparkly unicorn ponies make my heart sing with such complete joy that I had to leap out of my chair and swirl like a happy wee dervish in sheer delight! Oh, my!
