Bluebells?
Yes -- is the bluebell wood in flower?

Um, M just told me she thought they were blue hyacinths. I’m confused now.
The bluebell wood sounds good though, but I think we missed it.

The bluebell wood is by Carlton Corner of Hagley Park, tucked under the trees on the Fendalton fringe. It’s one of the city’s quiet treasures, and the smell is glorious. I was surprised it was in flower so early, though I haven’t been down that way last week. Hyacinths are probably right for that pic. I shall try to get to the bluebells when they flower. The daffodils in the gardens by the hospital are coming out now, so I will combine that with a hospital visit.

Star magnolia.
I walked under one of these on my way home tonight. Looking up I could see both stellata and the starry sky. :-)

Pink feathers
Nice: what are those feathers?

This little fellow popped his head up out of our black soil two weeks ago, but is now being joined (see a pink tip emerging?) by quite a few more. Not yet a feast, but certainly a taste of things to come.
NZ's warmest-ever winter is having an impact.
