  • Morgan Nichol,

God, thank you so much for this. I held my critical tongue over the first Capture post, there was so much black & white, and I was left longing for colour. Black & white in the age of digital seems more like an easy way to hide your failures, than the film era demonstration of talent for capturing light & shadow. Fill me up with all your delicious colour.

  • Megan Clayton,

My mother knits children's toys in bright wools and acrylics. This is the palette of her world. Thank you!

I will do that, Morgan. I figured something big and colour and digital was the way to go for my first post. Good for what ails you.

OMG! A single rainbow cake is better than a double rainbow. All the way, across my mouth.

Nice one Robyn. Yes, we did rather start with a Black and White world. But we do do colour round here too, honest.

  • Robyn Gallagher,

I'm loving all these colourful photos. It looks like most of New Zealand is enjoying some bright sunny weather today, so I encourage y'all to get out and take some photos.

I took this photo of a knitted Periodic Table being pieced together a few weeks ago at Holland Road Yarn Company in Petone. Here is its Facebook page. It went up yesterday at the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry Conference in Hamilton.

[I have Jackson's full permission to cross-link here] One of several hundred shots my father has, taken on his old Leica on slide film from about 1955 to 1973. I've posted a selection that have been cleaned up on my blog with many more to come as I find the time.

This is an RNZAF Bristol Freighter landing at Christmas Island in 1958.

And dad changing a spark plug on the same aircraft - now camouflaged - at Da Nang in 1971. NZ pilots needed to be resourceful I guess.

Cheers Simon. I'm not sure you needed permission. Those are great pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
