  • Random Play: Welcome to this world,

Hmmm. I'm thinking that in about five years' time someone is going to use this technology to create something wild.

you seen surrogates with bruce willis ?

same sort of concept but straight human, cos you have to imagine, if the humans in "Avatar" could bio engineer Nav'i they certainly did humans first, so the earth would be populated with surrogates.

still, i'd rather have one of those exo-skeleton war machines.

but yeah, total immersion 3d fantasy role playing games in real time on-line within 5 years you reckon ;)...did someone say matrix ?

"you were really there and it happened" ...

i'm a bit like that too. i was feeling what it was like to be sully and living in the future/past through someone else.

...and I started thinking about the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, WTF.

    why that ?

  • Random Play: Welcome to this world,

My eyes were sore after 2 hours 40 minutes -- I think this is going to be an issue with this kind of cinema.

yeah funnily enough, there was a gap in the movie where i actually thought they were going to stop it and have a good old intermission...

...the other thing is, i kept taking the glasses off every now and then and was surprised to see some scenes arent 3D.

Your comments about Io give me a good insight into your lack of understanding -

i fear it is you that doesnt understand

your comments suggest you follow your head more than your heart

the head is sometimes wrong, the heart never is

sometimes the head will do wrong to teach the heart a lesson

if the heart doesnt learn, the head is doomed to repeat it

I'm just really, really looking forward to reading Islander's response to that ...

to be fair, it was lucys inference that suggested the comparison if you equate the da vinci code to song of waitaha and the catholic church to maori mythology.

what i find interesting is the underlying disownership and disunity of inter tribal lore amongst maori without acknowledgeing that their myths are co opted from a wider unified polynesian tradition.

it's like the 'maori flag' thing. "hey its your flag not ours even though we just live a couple clicks just up the road".

    wheres the PLUR ?

Io has many names, many faces, some unseen and it is thru them that all was created but if you dont believe in any of it then its all just excruciatingly stupid fantasies and the truth will remain hidden

so umm lucy you havent read it have you ? have you islander ?

true, if you're looking for an introduction to catholicism, the da vinci code is not the one but as a springboard to the possible truth of the holy grail reinterpreted thru fiction then it's prolly a good read but not nearly as well presented as song of waitaha. cant wait for the film...heh. i 'd go for dwayne the rock johnson to play rakaihautu.

funnily enough, the da vinci code was also plagiarised from more scholarly texts with 'the holy blood and the holy grail' also seen fit to be banned and denounced thus equating the vatican with ngai tahu and its denouncement of song of waitaha with both books being essentially about lineage and myth as truth but in essence, the core truth remains...hidden and unfuckwithable:)

FWIW i have a deep mistrust of the vatican and the catholic faith.

are you talking here of IO ?

The Unbegotten is the source of everything in the esoteric tradition rather than a creator-god per se.

would it have been so hard to say yes:)

so as a realist with no purveyance of nostalgia or mysticism. its fair to say you dont believe the old stories ?

recommend a decent Maori mythology tome?

forget the bullshit and the hype but read of 'song of waitaha' and make your own mind up. its a beautiful book.
