Craig: OK. Thanks
But if anyone things the relationship between politician and media is tame bitch and master rather than delicately balanced mutual parasitism is missing something much more interesting.
It is the perception that counts like believing your sports team is fairly treated or not. Patisanship. -
Craig:" How to keep your hands clean:
John Key approved the release of the Credit cards. He said little but as expected the MSM really did the work for him.
Jesus Christ, I don't know how John Key and Helen Clark tear themselves away from the more wing-nutty corners of the internet.
The point I was making was that the gun does not have to be fired by the leader. I believe that Mr Key knew the effect that the release of past documents would have on MSM. Like tossing a bone and watching the frenzy as I think is also happening in far off Auckland. (Never thought of my self as a wingnut.)

John Banks' team are willing and able to approve the move of seeding the smear against Brown leaving MSM to do the work for him.

I thought that the role of this new Mayor was not the same as other Mayors. Isn't this one an Executive Mayor with many powers where before he was the Chairman of the Council expressing their decisions? Different skills?

I asked my elderly Mum if she was a feminist. She said yes. I asked her what she thought feminism was.
She said in summary "Giving all people a fair opportunity to follow their dreams regardless of gender."
"Good" I said. "I declare myself a Feminist."
She said, "No. I don't think mere males are allowed to be a Feminist."
"Oh damn. Can I be a Feminist with a small f-eminist."
"No dear. But I think you could be a Supporter if you like." -
Russell. My thoughts exactly. It seems to contradict the implaccable "it is clearly always illegal" line.

Craig. It is a bit rough to have online writers being provocative. Sigh.

I enjoy the threads over on the Standard. Sometimes its critics do adopt a superior sniffy attitude. All posters on sites could be sniffed at, including here, depending on points of view. As Jeremy says the Righties machine does post some nasty stuff which invites nasty responses. (It may be that strong trolling on particular threads indicates a concern in the Right camp. Threatened?)
Some discussions actually cover serious ground and share information. I say long live the Standard! And PA! And Red Alert! -
"The document dump and following frenzy has proved to be the worst possible way of examining this issue."
Absolutely true. Mr Key might have been wiser to have a report on the "misuse" in a form which identified the problem without the witch hunt.
X number of Ministers spend on bar tabs
Y number of ministers have wrongly booked up personal items
Z number of ministers have repaid personal purchases as soon as they returned to NZ or similar.Aha public. We have been open and transparent and this will be the solution.......
I wonder if Mr Key will have problems with future transparency? -
3410 Yes. You have hit the nail. This has happened all the way through. An accusation made. But without a reasonable reason being published or if done it is ridiculed.
Carters limousine answer should be easily checked but people say, "Nonsense. If it didnn't happen to others then it couldn't happen to him." Slarty I think?
