  • Southerly: Golden Lads and Girls All Must,

When people talk of the "rich tapestry of life" it is a bit cliched but your family is rich indeed. Thankyou for sharing those riches.

  • Southerly: The Burglar Files,

Why didn't the lads calculate the likely punishment should they get caught?
What right did the kid on the bike have to damage their car?
Did the lads go to a Catholic or Protestant church?
Were their school fees greater than $10,000 per term when they were at school?
You see David? There are serious questions unanswered!

  • Hard News: Reporting Afghanistan,

_"I'm not prepared to send people to a destination that I'm not prepared to come myself."_
This implies that he put himself right in the thick of a war. What a brave man is Key. Except the risk for a guided visit is minimal. George W did similar things with similar intent. Fraud!

Now that is very funny and very clever Phillip.

  • Southerly: Phar Lap and Me,

I take her point about the david farrier needing to be skilled. I expect that he was the one who designed and fitted those razor sharp lethal horse-shoes which complements Paula's sharp tongue. Does she use a horse whip to urge Phar Lap onwards or just save that for brushing off pesky whining beneficiaries? I suppose Paula's sarcasm directed at MPs in the House must reflect her constant need for a new set of victims. A sort of Victim Withdrawl Syndrone. A sort of Vampire effect.

  • Busytown: All in the game,

Off topic I know but people have had fun learning to pronounce the volcano as Eyjafjallajokull but that is the glacier underneath Eyjafjoell the volcano. Much easier to say.

  • Cracker: About a Boy,

"Boy" is a brilliant movie. Agree with all you said Damian. In addition it is so refreshing to see something that was not pretentious, not insincere or manipulative, and not high tech as most American films tend to be. An honest, quirky, clever, funny, sad, worthwhile way to spend an hour or so. And it carries a pleasant aftertaste!

  • Southerly: The Problem With Religion,

The guide in the Mosque we visited in Bahrain was devout and friendly. I felt a bit sad when I realised that the substance of Moslem teachings were largely Christian Old Testament, not that I know much about that.
I was asked to take part in an Easter drama on the Stations of the Cross for a Drama group, but saying that I was an aethiest I thought not. No they said. Please do it anyway. So I did but was distinctly uncomfortable when a nun came up to me afterwards and gazed into my eyes and praised my performance as Jesus heading to extinction, and the tears trickled down her face.
"Er um. I am pleased that you enjoyed the um...." Help.

Remember it was about 10 Mayors who wrote to that nice Smith man (as he had asked them to do) in order to sink the elected ECan. And they did so without the consultation with any of their Councils. So get rid of all of the Mayors in Canterbury especially those who want to set up business selling bottled water. Water, water, water is the major mayoral issue.
