I mean, has anyone else noticed that Lockwood Smith is in fact a Thunderbirds puppet?

Yep! I keep thinking "Team America" though.:-)

  • Hard News: Debating Clydesdale,

Let go of your precious racial persecution complex, you racist.

I have worked, lived and been friends with many people of many races, creeds, ages and orientations; so can't be called prejudiced.

Oh give me a break, Simon. Your general tone would suggest otherwise but for what its worth, try inserting human everytime you mention mankind. We have a human race. We have a christian doctrine for the "creeds" you seem so aware of."ages and orientations" Sorry,I don't think that gives you a broad outlook of the human race which I believe you think you have.Perhaps an ignorant one which is often the case.So opportunities abound an' al' 'at!!

I don't want to see the country brought down by poor immigration policy, especially when the most educated and highest contributors generally leave for a while or for good.

See now, there goes the tone again,(not very nice is it?)Most educated....highest contributors...where is your evidence? People do follow money around the world hoping to get some, and that does include many coming to NZ hoping to get some. However, many also come for the lifestyle.Different cultural backgrounds make up the tapestry that is the fabric of our unique society, and immigrants have contributed to all of that .So a better understanding of different cultures may go a long way to a better society we can all call home.(In my humble way)

  • Hard News: The Sutch Files,

Apparently his design for a christchurch house (an L shape opening onto an internal courtyard and not addressing the street) caused an outrage at the time. The idea of having big windows to catch the sun would barely raise an eyebrow now. Sutch was clearly flirting with dangerous ideas for the time,

I saw an article in a recent(April/May)Home magazine re Plishke and realised it was very simlar to what I grew up in. My Dad was a draughtsman at the time, and he hung out with a few Architects and in the 50's Plishke did our house .It was all glass except for concrete block walls at the end and if memory serves me right, concrete block was innovative for domestic housing at that time.It was a great piece of modern architecture.

  • Hard News: Don Paul,

If it was you standing up there to be PM instead of slimy yukky Keys, I might even vote National for once in my life. Did I say that? Anyway, for your turn of phrase, I salute you, sir.

The whole non-existent brain/mouth filter thing isn't a good fit with modern retail politics either. :)

Oh I dunno, I could be a first time nat voter too..oh take it back, what was I thinking:-)

I thought, that's an amazing photograph. Then I read down and people were reading all kinds of 'Strange Fruit' stuff into it.

Still think it,s a great photo, even knowing what would follow in the comments but I suspect it will become a famous photo for the photographer and think one couldn't stage a.better composition. It's very cool.Riz!
