    I think we lose sight

True, but may as well be a caravan park then.Hell, we know it can be driven on. It can handle the weight. Don't see much point in a journey all the way back to a a water front, when festivities start round the corner. Plus we who live here, know it will be open finally and yes it is very cool, so why do we need to do all anything for drunk visitors? I know this is 'Te Roogbee' and it's a thing but our waterfront should be for everyone, not just "party central". That name stinks first off.

  • Up Front: Go For Launch,

I can never see the point of vegetarian pies. It's a bit like decaffeinated coffee.

    Not at all.
Imagine the puff pastry with mushroom, spinach sauteed in garlic and marinated feta with a hint of sundried tomatoes pie, all washed down with a good kiwi Epic Pale Ale. To finish with a nice Cuban cigar and a Laphroaig (just learnt to say that last night). mmmmm

which is why the brewerys are opening as many bars there as fast as they can.

Well, the Kingslander, been there for quite some time but The Macs Neighbourhood Bar is actually owned by the 3(?) guys who own Wagamama. So they are not silly eh? I think that is correct that Kingsland will be a thriving strip for all kind throughout this RWC business and t'other side of Bond street along New Nth Rd would be a good spot as well. I wouldn't go down to the waterfront for Rugby. What, do they think these folk are thick? I imagine they will hang around Dominion Rd, Mt Eden as well.I think the party central crap is for the eliterati that is John Key's buddies, oh I've said this before. Moving along....

I love Auckland. It breaks my heart to see what a shallow political/sporting/populist agenda is doing to my city.

Hear hear! I will plug again these people who I have much respec' for. Yes please, anything they do would be just fine. How's this for
    outside the square

  • Hard News: Dear John,

    Paul (and anyone else)
I don't have a big dislike for the Australian (bit of jest earlier). I must however mention after living there for 11 years + I did find more and more that the "she'll be right attitude" of so many of my friends and colleagues was wearing thin.It was this same complacency (PAS always excluded) that is shown time and time again on the news and stuff like the targeting of the Invalids benefit was the next piece to be rolled off at human expense. This balance sheet approach to the sick and in many invalids case, dying is abhorrent. NZ is not one big business, it is one small country. The sooner we New Zealanders all realise that we are in this together the better off we can all be.So every time we see the government baying for the blood of the needy, I will call it.

  • Hard News: Dear John,

Keeping with the theme. So now the dear leader thinks travel perks are acceptable for the old skool politicians. I say relocate like the rest of us if it causes so much strife with your relationships. As an example , Rodney Hide stinks. He had no problem forgoing one relationship for another when he chose to.Nothing to do with travel. He definitely is no martyr. Just a whinger.
