You seem to underestimate National's desperation. They are hoping the scare will drop the dollar enough to make the farmgate price go up just enough to keep the wolf from the door. It matters little that this will increase our national debt to 70 billion because debt is good, right?.

It's who they always vote for, and it's justified by declaring that everyone's at least as bad.
That is the bit I don't get, why bother voting? It must be a case of "They are all bad but the others are worse"
Up here in Northland I suspect National are saying "We could put up a lazy weight lifting bloke who looks like a pumpkin and still win" It could be worse, we could still have Mike (the [redacted]) Sabin. -

It's kinda obvious, really. Intelligence is really only hugely useful if some antagonist doesn't know you've got it, or can get it.
Well, John Key has said that they don't do it so all the "Terrorists" can keep on sending those un-encrypted eMails with all their secrets and plots and the Government won't know anything about it because they don't collect anything, honest!.
It is such a cunning plan you could pin a tail on it and call it a donkey. -
It is the timing that got me. They have known about this for months, longer than John Key claims to have known about Mike Sabin.
After the, suspected, botulism fiasco it would seem that Fonterror (sic) would have loved to keep this latest threat away from us ignorant plebs for fear that we would run around in circles yelling "Won't somebody think of the children?"
Instead it seems to have been decided that Winston was the greatest threat to the coffers of the wealthy so anything to distract said plebs from hearing anything that could put National in a bad light that may come from New Zealand First's leading light.
No matter how much this may hurt the already struggling dairy farmers, National is prepared to do anything to win in Northland.
As to the actual threat, only a dedicated Right Wing Nutjob would, actually carry out a threat like this to label the Greens and others concerned with our native species, as Terrorists.
