the honey trap for Richard Worth

    I'm sorry, the WHAT?
Dude was accused of sexual harassment

John Key said "had Worth not resigned he would have been sacked".

I just assume as a matter of course that all journalists are bottom-feeding amoral News of the World scum until proven otherwise.

Um, our gracious PA host excepted, I hope?

Fostering engagement in public debate over matters that may affect the reputation (positively or negatively) of people in public life is among the most vital purposes of freedom of expression.

We do not like the bombast or the offensive language that has been disclosed in his private communication, but there are many effective people in all walks of life whose private communication would shock us all were it to be public.

    Firstly, ewwww!

Secondly, the second statement wildly contradicts the first. He can't have it both ways.

  • Southerly: Sign this Petition,

I don’t give a flying fuck why Dirty Politics was written or when it was released. I care about whether its content is true. None of its allegations have been disproved.

  • Speaker: A Slight Diversion from…, in reply to David Haywood,

My wonderful aunt is currently organizing Harold’s voting papers in hospital. She advises any potential visitors: “Harold is hanging out for election anecdotes so remember to pass something on when you see him. If you can think of anything that reflects badly on John Key you would make his day.”

My Mum was visited by electoral officers in her rest home. She is proud to have voted and is excited to know who wins.

    And now-ish … Maybe it’s in Samoa :)

As I recall, it fell over in the quakes and the authorities made the guy take it to the dump. Sorry.

  • Speaker: Telling Our Own Tales, in reply to Barnaby Bennett,

    15. We do know that the CCC built a Convention Centre in just north of the Town Hall in 1997 for $15 million. This new one is a little bit bigger and 25 times the cost.

Thanks for laying this out, Barnaby. This bit particularly beggars belief. People wonder why Chch folk are angry with this government. They don't know the half of it.

Because most of the media headquarters are based here Bruce. Simply a reality.
As it is in the UK with London. The USA with New York. France with Paris. etc etc etc etc etc.

Chch is NZ’s 2nd largest city.
Chch people are not only your fellow citizens, but your tax money is being spent/squandered down here.
First you tell me it’s a lie that Aucks media aren’t covering Chch, and then that it’s unreasonable to expect you to. Also that you come down here often and know exactly what’s going on.

But these are our fellow New Zealanders, and our government. That’s the difference, surely.

    Thanks Russell.

Says something if this thread also becomes all about Auckland. Kind of proves the point, eh.

Inferring that I lack empathy because I do have opposing views is not fair play. I do have empathy. Oodles of it.
My association with the maligned Auckland-based media prompts my relies…..not a lack of sympathy for Christchurch.

If you're a media person, then perhaps you could try listening instead of talking. This is not about you, it's about Chch and what Chch people are going through.

Auckland-based media, with few exceptions, have given almost no space to Chch issues. This is not an emotion, it's a fact.

PAS is a place where civility and mutual respect can build bridges between people with differing views. If you want a flame war, please go elsewhere.
