BREAKING NEWS: In a shock move, the Government..

All being quick to emphasize the need to reduce smoking not increase revenue. Ruth Dyson made an interesting observation that the urgency was because Nats have got nothing to offer so Tarianas bill goes through.

A thought. If SOG would have not turned a profit if it wasn't selling for growers, and SOG is advertised on National TV, (who must earn $$ from SOG for ad space) will National TV be charged with aiding and abetting, thus, have it's stations seized?

but no one actually looked like they were having a good time or wanted to be but. Like me, it looked more like they were obliged to be where they were.

Some of us did /do thoroughly enjoy it and as Damian pointed out, differing professions creates differing biological clocks. Hell, I could leave a bar only because I'd have to be at work by eight. must admit the 10 coffees by morning tea break certainly helped.

Like many of the other spending cuts rammed through under urgency, this reflects judgements about which groups of people are worthy of state assistance.

Exactly why not allowing due process with public submissions, churning out new policy for spending cuts (and as seen here, to peoples lives). The drastic drop in case files, ( due to rejection or still in the queue, the one that was going to be more efficient) that Minister Smith can't grasp, (always looking at the bottom dollar) has also highlighted poor wording of the Act. Providers are receding, having different interpretations of the Act or feeling uncomfortable addressing some of the requirements in diagnosing each case. Labour did warn of this as soon as Nick Smith chose to decrease funding. His concern on the day (ever so concerned) seems to have gone along the road to nowhere, like so many of this Governments warped ideas, when consequent scenarios are highlighted.

Hey, but don't worry guys - the government looks set to almost completely ignore the recommendations of the Law Commission report on alcohol. According to JK, "there is literally [??] no appetite for is [sic, NZH] to increase excise taxes".

With Doug McKay, our brand new shiny Chief Executive for Auckland Council (formerly Lion Nathan and most recent Executive chairman of Independant Liquor ) leading the way for this "brighter future", why would alcohol be a problem? We are about to embark on creating space for binge drinking.
