Linger I'm not gonna argue on the baby thing, but will point out different cultures tell age in different ways.
Those that developed counting without zero start at age one from birth, and others still don't care about the day.
If you're born in that year you are x years of age, new years day and you're another year older."Deborah suggests that "independent viability" makes a useful practical cutoff for moral purposes if we also lack indicators of "personhood"."
This is why I asked about euthanasia.

Two lanes & we're to keep to the left lane, unless ....
I oppose that rule as a waste of money. All the cash that goes into roads & you're only supposed to use the right hand lane on the odd occation. Traffic engineers need a kick in the wallet.

Spike Milligan was the reason I joined the Artillary - a good choice for humour in impossibly ridiculous situation - normally of our own making.

What I really can't understand is that it was peer reviewed, found 'wanting' and he still put it out there?
If anyone can answer that I'ld be greatly appreciated.
DeepRed - Do you keep an eye on those websites?
I've not kept up with the various NZ outfits but fear their rise as times get harder. -
Driving licences should be a 5yearly practicle resit.

That trying to be tough kinda annoying Radio & TV DJ D'Arcy once told me, you're not hard core untill you stick to the 30km speed limit around road works at 3am.
I still find that hard to do from time to time. I blame my only speeding ticket on lending the car to Dad.
Mutual friends thing in Christchurch - you meet everyone.

DeepRed - I kind a think he deserves that kind of support.
Again there is no academic rigour to it, but rather it is showing itself for what it is.
With friends like that, ....

Simon - Clydesdales 'own goal' (as per soccer) is that he claims to be an academic - employed as such by Massey & yet rejects academic rigour.
I think the term - "Publish & be damned" is more apt for Clydesdale. If you want freedom you have to accept that others have freedom too speak their mind & find fault.
I'm yet to hear of anyone endorsing his academic findings, his right to draw his own conclusions sure, but we're back to academic rigour again.

Islander - Cheers for that

Peter - "The only belief I happen to hold is that the scientific method is the best way of knowing things."
This is just one way of knowing something but not always the best way.
Beer, whiskey, & wine are not known for their scientific value, nor is a rose, a sun set, or the laughter of children.
These are some of the things I know the best and place noscietific value on them.Islander - I know northing of 'hu', 'ha', 'ihi', & 'kehua'. Could you explain a little if it's not too much to ask?
