  • Hard News: Villainy and engagement, in reply to Sacha,

If only someone made a cut-down version …

That's easy, I booked the Block Oz for Mondays, One gets to see the reveal without the bullshit. I booked the Auction out of interest at the end but. Saved putting up with the crap on the way. Totally a cut-down version. :)

  • Hard News: Villainy and engagement,

I got a ph call one day. It was a person from a Production Co. They had heard about my dispute with my neighbour who felled an enormous tree. The Council had asked them for a stay of execution whilst the street was heard, much like the Kauri of last week but with no marauding protesters. The tree was felled whilst the stay was agreed to and I had gone to work. So anyway, they wanted to know if I'd be interested to be on a show about "neighbours from hell". They thought my situation was the kind of format they were looking for.
I said the last thing I'd want is to have anything to do with that *%#t again and that I couldn't stand that sort of TV . Plus I'd been seen on Police 10 7 without my consent and that was enough to put me off NZ reality TV. (Not a good look when you've been drinking that night and then proceeding to save a kid from abduction and a massive brawl outside our house)
So yeah, they like fighting no matter who is involved, be it judges or participants, at the same time NZ is unique in that the audiences care about the underdog rather than the smart arses.

Okay, this is actually quite funny.

So, he's a one hit wonder? I wonder, will he get one hit from a member of public or will more than one do a whole Jesse Ryder on his ass. And as for the first to wear a suit...
the guy's a dick and so is she.

  • Legal Beagle: Update on the Former MP's…,

If such Bills were required to have the Select Committee process, it may make for better thought out Legislation in the first instance and may make the public more interested in politics altogether and may curb the whole Urgency legislation. The "more transparency" in expenses has already unearthed some interesting information (to some) .Plus, to simplify an amendment to a "an error needs fixing" and as in this case, Annette King being the one MP who seems to know all about it will highlight if indeed everyone does fully understand what the hell these pieces of Legislation do. I'm over poorly thought out legislation no matter whose Bill it may be. Plus this whole lifetime +the partner thing is excessive. Especially if I have to support Politicians I cant stand getting my taxes for their holidays.
If the wording of Legislation changes an outcome then it should become new Legislation surely? I'd much rather that get attention than Key wasting time in the House like he usually does. Maybe then he might learn something about his Office/job.

  • Legal Beagle: MPs to vote on raising…, in reply to izogi,

King said the wording "Air New Zealand " had inadvertently been left out when the long-standing entitlements were transferred to the new Members of Parliament (Remuneration and Services) Act 2013. Because the benchmark had always been Air NZ prices they were rectifying the mistake and it has cross Party support. At least the query about using Air New Zealand has now been answered.

  • Hard News: The greening of the Red Zone,

A few houses, presumably those posing health and safety probems for demolition crews, remain. But only a few

Unfortunately uninsured and bare land has been an issue for some in the red zone which may be an answer to remaining houses. Highlighted this last week on Campbell Live, it was noted that a man was asking the Govt to pay 2007 value and not the half he was offered. Sounds like his prayers were answered.

  • Legal Beagle: The Northland by-election;…,

One thing to note as well. Of 6 people the other night who have the right to vote this By Election, 5 knew and were happy Winston was here and were going to vote. One who "just didn't vote" mentioned that "nothing ever changes for him, no matter who's in" My effort to explain a few things may just get him out there and that said to me that misunderstanding a few issues can make a lot of difference in the decisions made. So tomorrow, I'm going to chat a bit more to him. I think Winston's message about Northland being ignored for too long may resonate with some voters. I hope so. What day is it today? ;)

  • Legal Beagle: The Northland by-election;…, in reply to simon g,

after all, people are not slow to voice their opinions across a range of platforms (social media, text voting etc)

It's called "lazy". Social media ,text opinions are at hand. Cell phs are every where. Actually getting off your arse to go on a protest on the other hand.... actually putting a face to the opinions,....actually understanding what you say instead of repetitive mantra, requires engaging the brain. Sheeple don't require any engagement. which is why if you can dumb down the masses you can manipulate your people far easier than a society that is engaged . We don't need no........
