  • OnPoint: Did you know we're in a recession?,

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was just blowing off steam with that comment.

Still, jolly marvelous job so far imo.
Coming in late as usual, but having just read this this morning, it was so refreshing to see that someone (and proving more and more to be from PA) was able to unfold the rubbish from the other diabolical behaviour in the House that I witnessed t'other day. It was appalling to watch.
    Go Keith!

Good to see Public Address keeps its Nat apologist around ready to defend anything these clowns claim.

And this sounds like more of the same. What's the point of that snide comment? No matter what someones affiliation(or otherwise) may be, there is no reason that others cannot enjoy a forum of robust interaction around here unless a moderator thinks so.
Geez martinb pull ya head in.

    Yay! It's Labour day weekend.
    oh...
    I'll get my coat....

On another note, Fran O'sullivan has the reason for the whole fiasco.

  • Hard News: Anatomy of a Shambles,

If anyone can convince them it'd be Jackson.

No, if Warner want to be convinced it's as soon as Key has his meeting. It will be "what do you want?" then it will be "For the sake of the industry we have enlarged the tax break. I have saved the day. :)))" And everyone will rejoice, the actors will breathe a sigh of relief. Work will commence and it will be back to the future that is Hobitton, Warner will be happy, PJ will be happy. Unions will be undermined. The timing was appalling whatever way you look at it, but at the end of the day, I hope the actors have made some inroad to better standards. We all deserve the best in the world for this is New Zealand.

  • Hard News: Anatomy of a Shambles,

Honestly, Sofie, those are words Kelly should repeat while looking in a mirror.

Actually she did look a liddle sheepish. I got the impression she was having difficulty looking into the camera so a mirror would have been out of the question. I tuned in a bit late and just caught the end of Jackson. Trouble is a fried motherboard does not for good recording or rewatching make. By the end of that segment it felt like a SNAFU situation, but I reckon it will be shot in NZ.

Those who support strong unions have every reason to call out incompetence like this.

And, Helen Kelly just said there could have been better communication from Actors Equity (on 3 news).

  • Hard News: Anatomy of a Shambles,

The depiction of Spada as the face of the evil boss class actually bothered me.

Can I just suggest that what always happens in NZ, is that we kiwis like the principle of no.8 fence wire. Can do. This attitude allows us to believe others will understand what we mean. Trouble is, each party has worked out how to deal in this industry cos that's what we do. No.8 fence wire. There is nothing collective about this . The film industry is made up of individuals. At times it feels a bit back stabby because every person in that industry is vying for the same jobs. At times it really feels like it's who you know because it is a small industry.I think this issue of Actors wanting a collective understanding is not realizing that others in the industry had figured that out ages ago. Like doh! this is NZ. In general, I reckon actors have a pretty good job. It's not perfect, and I understand the desire to get on par with similar. The thing is, many in this industry figured that out,and became self employed, which has given them a kiwi lifestyle that works. Then as usual, the actors show up last, and expect others to understand. It was already sorted by every other department ,it's called self employed contractors. Covers the lot.
    Shame.

  • Hard News: Morning in Auckland,

(Oh, unless you put down pot grower as your profession in the last census. But even then, Statistics NZ are not allowed to pass that on to the cops.)

Er, I get the distinct impression that the cops might already know what pot grower does hence the problem being conveyed, which could be why all authority in NZ may be his/her issue, in that the powers that be do sorta get lumped into the one category of "bastards I have met." The hypocrisy of democracy....

My Media7 laydeez use "slut" as a term of affection with each other all the time.

My best friend and myself use the term "slut" as a term of affection with each other all the time. It probably came about having hung out together as singles and having watched each other depart for a bit of debauchery around 2am several nights a week.
Ahhh, the good ol' days. :)

Geoff, you just paste the raw link here - without all the square brackets rigmarole - and the system does the rest

What always got me thinking it didn't work, was that it didn't show up when I previewed my post. Now I hope for the best anyway and it usually is correct.
