  • Hard News: It is your right and duty to vote,

    diverting scare resources

I know it was just a typo but I think the scare resources that have been diverted into pushing this policy through have been excessive as well.

What bugs me about the whole policy is that those who actually know WTF they are doing (ie teachers and education specialists) have been so completely ignored. Instead it's been political grandstanding of the worst kind. Which doesn't bother me much except when it's about important things ... like I don't know ... educating the next generation maybe? grrrr

His most memorable trophy was a big rat

Our other cat woke us one night because she was playing on the bed, unusual for her because she is a pretty dedicated sleeper.

I sleepy reached down the bed to shoo her off and put my hand on something furry .... cold and furry ....

My sleepy synapses made the connection ... cold + furry /= cat

Our cat spent the rest of that night OUT

Bad cat! Healthy and happy looking, but still a bad cat.

We taught our cat to hunt and kill grass instead of birds. When he brought birds to us we would scold him and remove the bird. As an alternative I pulled up long grass from the garden and played chase with him - then later when he brought the grass inside we would praise him for his "kill" and give him treats - and play with him some more.

I think the chasing part of the game is kinda important.

I don't know whether it was our "training" or just his nature but he stopped hunting birds pretty quickly. Of course explaining to guests why our cat was sitting over a piece of grass loudly proclaiming his hunting prowess was a little difficult.

    "Safe flirt. Brilliant."

    LOL

Although there is a part of me that wanted to be dangerous .

I should point out that I'm guessing that was after Emma had executed a drive-by-hug while Mikaere, Brent, Hannah, Nick and I were discussing the evils/benefits of GE :). Far too serious of course for a Christmas party.

But I thought you LIKED me!

But I do ... I thought not showing you a picture of me naked was the nicest thing I could do :P

It is interesting how some people you meet and decide that yes it is OK to tease and/or flirt with them and it won't end in tears :).

Emma by the way (as scary as she is) falls definitely into that category.

This probably isn't a thread I want to introduce the phrase 'jpgs or it didn't happen' onto.

I'm pretty sure the only surviving copies are in one of those boxes in the cupboard. However, even if I could dig it out and scan it, if you think I'm stupid enough to give you a picture of me naked ...

Know what Chch gets this summer? Fuck. All.

No sympathy from me. Some dick is building a bloody great big rugby stadium on our cricket pitch.

As for sordid. Well there is a nude calendar with a picture of me when I was 19, but that was artistic - I think.

  • Speaker: There's a word for that ...,

    Let's fix it.

You know we actually can fix it. We'll probably get kinda grubby in the process but most jobs that are worth doing get you covered in muck at some point.

And after you've showered and got yourself clean, the glass of wine tastes all that much better for having done a good job
