There is both a strong genetic and strong diet component to obesity.
It is patently not possible for obese people to "simply" change their diet or even "simply" change their exercise habit.
Most of the successful treatment of obesity now focuses on treating the patients lifestyle over periods extending to decades. Which coincidentally requires really good primary health care.
The best successes come from essentially treating obesity as an addiction and there is increasing evidence that it may be precisely that. Once a person has adapted to eating larger quantities of food they become addicted physiologically.
Much the same way people who exercise too much become addicted to the endorphins.
Sorry for characterising obesity as a disease/disability that language isn't ideal but in the terms of the discussion it seemed appropriate.

huh? who? what? where?
Need nametags... I did put a face to Sofie and Steve Barnes but sadly I'm sure there were folks there whom I know vritually but without going around shaking hands and saying "who the hell are you?" ... sorry I'm just too shy to do that.
I will be there on Friday and Russell promises nametags
And who are you callin' young! I could have won $10 last night from someone betting they were older than I :).

Well I thought the Auckland evening was very enjoyable!
Graham Reid stepped up to plate and introduced the guests of honour after it became clear that Russell was delayed. Which was a little odd because Graham was as much a guest of honour as Emma and David.
I got my hands on autographed copies of the tomes (they are so going to be worth at least $5 on Trademe).
Dr Haywood entertained the Auckland crowd and he wasn't even wearing socks and sandals! And then Emma stood up and joyfully read the C word from David's book. I'm not sure what was funnier, David's text or Emma's delight in reading it.
I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting the authors in RL.
I'm even not quite so scared of Emma any more.
PS From someone with almost no natural parenting instincts - Bob was very cute and much better behaved than his Dad.
PPS I went home at 9pm so someone else will have to report on the late night events.

I was surprised how big David's one was. Emma's was more shinny.
Must ... resist ...

imagine a pleasantly boring voice speaking deeply and slowly
yeeeeessssss master
...
Why is there a chicken in my lounge?
-
If we have name tags, can I be someone else?
I thought you already were?
-
please try to drag your mind out of your underpants!
Huh? Emma is wearing underpants on her head??? Is that post operative thing?
I know that our nation's CRIs are a hotbed of steamy sex
Well I did spend half of yesterday helping our petunias reproduce...
Think about that the next time you spend two hours playing "Tracy Island".
Oh cool I was wondering what I was going to do tonight, BTW does anyone know where I can get a replacement T2 - my friend's children broke mine. Yes I did recognise it immediately during the geek quiz at the last Great Blend.

And I have no idea what you might be implying
Why nothing untoward of course, the thought that "pencil" might be some kind of euphemism would never occur to me...
-
otherwise the poor man would have nowhere to put his pencil
So Jen isn't coming along for the trip too????

is it a breach of a suppression order to link to another site where the suppression order is breached?
I'm not certain about the first bit but I suspect that the order could still remain in place and viable as a crime even if it was "common knowledge"
As for the second bit yes most definitely it is a breach of the order to provide information that allows others to breach the order.
It's treading a fine line to describe the method you used, if for example you gave the keywords you used in your search it would be a definite breach as it is the oblique reference to a particular search result is putting this site at risk.
