It later transpired that the music was actually 'Where Do I Begin?' -- the theme to the 1970 film 'Love Story'.
Ick - a turgid movie adaption of a terrible novel based on a stupid premise. I mean, seriously "love means never having to say you're sorry"??!! Only someone who has never been in a relationship could write crap like that!
Weddings however: I enjoyed ours, a compromise between the wife's (more particularly her family's) desire for a trad churchy bash, and my atheistic desire not to be too much of a hypocrite on a day that I'm supposed to making solemn oaths.
Of course, I still prefer my preferred plan B - take the money we would have spent on a wedding and take a trip round the world - getting hitched in as many notable cities as possible, roping in as many local witnesses and taking lots of pix for each one. Culminating with an Elvis wedding in Las Vegas (the latter of which a friend of ours did - so jealous!). -
SKY magazine (I got the dish for Maori TV - because that's the only way I can get Maori TV on the Coast.)
That's pretty dear for a TV listing that last I looked didn't have the FTA channels in it.
I'll stick with the Listener for the moment, at least half of it is still readable, and unlike most of the other TV listing magazines (TV Guide, Women's whatever) it doesn't leave me feeling dumber after having read it. Its still got a way lower percentage of stuff I skip right over than any given daily (or weekly) newspaper. -
Wonder if the blog stats asked how many blogs per person - I know my wifey is a prolific blogger with about a half-dozen on the go at any one time. Open ones, closed ones, and about three different topics. The names and platforms change as she changes focus.
Whereas I have one very neglected blogspot and a little test dabble on the Google sites (to get in early & save my name for unspecified future use...). -

It has got less satisfying, I agree, but I just can't bring myself to buy the TV Guide
But ... despite all that, I still read the Listener almost cover to cover every week, I rely on the entertainment listings, and there really isn't anything else like it around. So I'm keeping my subscription
Yup, what they said - but when I get a shiny new freeview box with a PVR to tell me what's on, that might just be the last nail in the Listener's coffin.

A colourblind head teacher of my mother's aquaintance had been using Microsoft Word for years and years and decided to attend a training course to see if there were any tricks he could pick up to round out his skillset.
He was shocked and amazed to learn there were different squiggly underlines for spelling and grammar "errors".
So mum, never missing a chance to keep on the boss's good side immediately asked me if the colours could be changed to be visible for the RGB disadvantaged.
Turns out you can, but it isn't as simple as you'd think it would be (I think there's a lesson there about MS for all of us). -
