Commercial art at that.
If I was to try the limits of a new beemer, it'd be origami

I wonder how far some of us have really strayed from our original occupational intentions.
I never managed to have any occupational intentions - I don't even recall the traditional "I'ma gonna be a fireman" as a primary kid. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up...

What on earth is John Ansell on about? As far as I can tell I've never even mentioned him by name -- and even on the two occasions I expressed some distaste for the iwi-versus-kiwi billboards, my language wasn't exactly angry. How bizarre.
He was probably using "Russell Brown" as a shorthand term for "bloggers that actually pay attention to people trying to pull the wool over their eyes". In much the same way that one might use "your mum" as shorthand for "not a cutting edge tech-user".
Its probably a compliment... -
I've heard that a definition of a Gentleman is one who knows how to play the bagpipes...
and doesn't.

Blazing Saddles town meeting reference? Or am I drawing too long a bow?
My mind's ear heard Scooby Doo...

They invited us to attend an "H Block Committee" ... That was our only foray into IRA sympathising
Obviously you didn't go to Waikato Uni then...
Of course they knocked down H block a few years back, place hasn't been the same since.

However all have mentioned the extreme pressure from some parents to have masses of it, and the squeaky wheel gets the oil often.
One thing I learned in my time on a primary school board of trustees is to be very sceptical about the squeaky wheels. We had one small bloc of parents who were rabidly enthusiastic on school uniforms. We were of the opinion that uniforms have no effect whatsoever on the kids' learning. After getting tired of their politicking we held a referendum, result: no uniforms. Two years later, after the elections, with a new board in place, all of a sudden, another referendum, result: still no uniforms.
I'd love to see a referendum about homework. I know the school down the road is a no-homework school. -
Yeah that was to match this maximum security device behind it; built by Edward I to subdue we the natives.
Obviously the locals took a fair bit of subduing.
Building that edifice in only six years would have taken a fair bit of manpower - many of them holding whips!

Then you'd miss out on stuff like this.
You mean the maximum security prison in the span on the right?
