OnPoint: MSD's Leaky Servers, in reply to
Also, hearing that the files were writeable (editable).
Holy. Shit.

To extend (flog?) the car metaphor -- this wasn't change-the-oil difficult it was reverse-into-a-car-park difficult.

Incredible (and depressing) to hear Katherine Ryan and Katrin Evans saying to each other "well, I don't know if you or I could do it, but it seems if you know about Computers it's not that difficult ...".

It’s amazing what you can write when they’re just words covering paper
Egg-zackly. "Excellence" is a word rendered almost entirely meaningless by being endlessly hammered by this kind of PR-speak.

Bravo, Keith – brilliant work.
While Keith was working on this, here’s what the Dom Post had on its front page on Saturday:
ANIMALS BEHAVING BADLY …
• A rhinoceros at Auckland Zoo was having mud applied to a head wound when he took fright, catching the keeper’s ankle and knocking him into a wooden post.
• A child was bitten by an otter while leaning over an enclosed barrier.
• A wallaby being restrained kicked a keeper in the arm at Auckland Zoo,
• A capuchin monkey escaped twice but was quickly captured.–
Incredibly people seem to still not grasp the enormity and ineptitude of all this: the privacy woman on the radio saying “we need to investigate to see if any info has been accessed …” – it’s been wide open for so long surely it’ll be impossible to tell what has been easily accessible for quite some time.
And a bit sad how proudly MSD are saying “there was a hole flagged a year ago and the system was completely rebuilt."

Have these assholes even seen MAD MEN?

The Clash song? He said, wistfully, "You might have come home late one night after a gig and found your mum and dad in the kitchen, holding hands, looking out the window, singing this old folk song ... it's called 'Garageland'. One two three four ..."

Sorry -- didn't understand a word of your post. Especially the third-to-last one. ;-)

And so long as the govt does not cut culture funding or further screw the distribution system
Well, the amount NZFC can give local productions is much less than it used to be, distribution is screwed (or at least massively in flux) … and the filmmaking landscape is changing dramatically. None of this is John key’s fault – or Peter Jackson’s – but how and where we see ‘our culture’ on screens is definitely changing. Certainly the definition of a New Zealand Film Industry is.
I think 'free' distribution (i.e. Internets) and cheap(er) production could mean exciting times ahead ... But the hundreds of people who've entered the 'industry' over the last 10 years may not all want to be part of that. And growing wages and secure employment may not feature too heavily either.

" Well, this is a change for Public Address, isn’t it."
You appear to have mistaken this website for The Borg, Dean.
A range of views on these issues have been debated here, generally quite civilly.
I'd also suggest it's possible to be not in favour of a union (based in another country) derailing a huge (and hugely-employing) project at the 11 3/4th hour with a contradictory and muddled contract demand AND be not in favour of our PM handing huge employment (and copyright) concessions and subsidies to a handful of entertainment behemoths based in the USA.
