teal-era BLACKCAPS shirt
I have the electric teal World Cup shirt from 99. Literally blinding.

What interests me is how sports uniforms relate to contemporary fashions. Do shirt collars reflect whatever is hot in menswear at the time?
On the basis of this puppy, I hope not. I actually own this disco-collared baggy, shiny monstrosity and bring it out for very special occasions.

People in charge of music at matches have long forgotten that crowds of excited, engaged and drunk sports fans don't need a DJ to create atmosphere.
I don't think it's people in charge of music - it's just Mark McLeod. And he's on a nice little earner.

Last night (for the purposes of reviewing - I see these things so you don't have to) I spent several hours at Readings in Wellington watching Dance Flick and I Love You, Beth Cooper and it occurred to me that if we're going to go to the trouble of making screens available for American shi!t we could just as easily make them available for our own.

Despite many on this thread responding with, "duh, we know this already" 'm going to admit that I didn't know this:
genetic diseases related to advanced paternal age, but they include:
Dominant disorders:
Wilms tumour, thanatophoric dysplasia, retinitis pigmentosa, osteogenisis imperfecta type IIA, acrodysostosis, achondroplasia, Apert’s disease, fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, aniridia, bilateral retinoblastoma, multiple exostoses, Marfan’s, Lesch-Nyan’s, Pfeiffer’s, Wardenburg’s, Treacher-Collins, Soto’s, and Crouzon’s syndromes, basel cell nevus, cleidocranial dysostosis, polyposis coli, oculodentodigital syndrome, Costello syndrome , progeria, Recklinghausen’s neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis and renal polycystic kidney disease.
... and let's not neglect X-linked recessive diseases:
Haemophilia A and Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy. As a 41 year old single man I think I can hear a door slamming in the distance.
I always felt neither here nor there on parenthood - if it happened great but not a problem if it didn't. But I think I was probably kidding myself a bit (how does John Clarke put it? "stressing my commitment to whatever appeared to be happening at the time") and now I need to sit down and have a bit of a talk with myself about how I really feel.

The new Black Caps uniforms will be without the unusual "robo-boobs" across the front.
Oh, thank Christ, that's the best news of the week.
Let's hope they get rid of the sailor-suit test match shirt too.

What kind of tax cut did you get, Dan? Mine was simply a deduction of the amount of tax paid. Do you adjust your wage based on the old tax brackets? That's going to require a bit of work I would think.
I saw how much more money was being credited to my bank account each fortnight and (as I hadn't been given a cost-of-living wage increase) assumed that was the value of the tax increase.
I'm going to muddy my own point slightly by saying that I then set up an automatic payment back to my employer: a registered charity.
-
I gave my October tax cuts to charity, as did several acquaintances.
Gave? Or Give?
You know they're ongoing, right? =)It's a fortnightly automatic payment so, yes, "give".
-
Meanwhile, you could always cut a cheque to the IRD for any of that filthy blood money that landed in your pocket. How about it?

Not that I'm recommending argufying on Kiwiblog but -
Wasn't planning to, but my poiint is that I don't bother participating in discussion there because when all you're going get is dismissed out of hand there's no point.
In a public forum like that, while you may not change the minds of those you debate with, you may have some influence over lurkers and other readers - there are a lot of 3rd parties who might appreciate what you have to say. Or not as the case may be.
