Panoramas of the usedtobe CBD that I found mind-bending this morning. A great project.

Christchurch is shaping up to be an ugly city going by the vileness of the remaining buildings.

Muse: Confound The Ignorant, And Amaze Indeed!, in reply to
The Englishness of Christchurch was perfectly represented in that movie
It is not English; and now much of the transplanted Englishness in the form of neo-Gothic buildings has upped sticks and stones, it will be interesting to see how that tired old myth plays out. Antique dealers here joke that they see so much stuff that "came out on the first four ships" that it would have taken 4000 ships to carry it all. The city has hundreds of years of Maori history for a start, then add in Pakeha settlement that was heavily Scots and Irish.

Amazing talent. So good to see a very young person so into their passion.
Tonight I watched one of my sons discover a new love. I smiled my face tired as I watched him have his first lesson on the Highland 'pipes. He bloomed as he quickly got the fingering on the chanter, and he is still buzzing. Neat; one of those special experiences I'll always remember, and I think he will too. -

I like that Sam Mahon fountain because you can play with it. And then there is this artwork in Te Puna O Waiwhetu

I have spent hours playing with both these pieces. -

Shoulder pads were a state of mind in the 80s. I wasn't there. Fashions then were horrific.
Dearly beloved says to mention that when faced with 80s fashions or rehab, he went to rehab then hid for a decade.
I remember many a ‘70s night tottering
A lotta tottering went on the various Squares in the 70s, and 80s.

never wore shoulder pads, thank Christ.:)
Quite a few PA readers would not have worn shoulder pads in the 80s. Count me as a not.
