I/S, I hope you get back online soon in the meantime, thanks for posting news of the Taree racism - so much for the PM's apology hey!

but anyhow a Kiwi came second

Who was that - was it Silo from (what was) Masi in Wellington? Does anyone know?

  • Hard News: Food Show 08,

Hmm, I dislike SB in the way I dislike most franchises however they employ lots and lots of people and, importantly, train them. I worry about 700 workers who'll have to find work.

And by the way, I don't agree the Financial Times take on Sydney coffee-culture. It's rubbish (Melbourne's is great however). Most of the coffee sold in Sydney is weak, weak, weak (I'm ex-Wellington). There's only a handful of places in the city to buy coffee and the best place is in the suburbs - this little beauty

I should have also said, 'cause I know first hand, that fathers also often have a tough time even if some of the challenges are only vicarious. I can understand why it took you a while to post this article.

Happy birthday Bob indeed - what an arrival; mothers really go through hell don't they and this...

as a consequence of hospital regulations that prohibit men from staying overnight

    ...doesn't help at all.

These regulations don't apply in Australia, or at least in NSW where my youngest was born - odd that really, in a country with a much more litigious culture and limited public insurance, you'd expect these things to be the other way around.

  • Hard News: Not actually satire,

National's leadership lacks depth and maturity.

    That's certainly my view.

If Key was to become PM, he'd have marginally more or less experience than David Lange and as much as I personally liked and admired David, it's pretty well documented that he struggled with aspects of the job having not been in government previously (and Lange's got significantly more talent than Key)

Mine's old but (as old as they get in fact), so probably a bit musty! But I had heard that many of my fellow graduates did fine despite some firms expressing disquiet about "quality".

He don't need no stinking law degree!

Do they smell any worse that the others... mine's from Waikato, apparently that makes it really smelly!

Is there anyone on here who, in a strange and small way, will actually miss Winston once he’s gone in a few months time?

    nope.

Nope too. As amusing as he can occassionally be, he's past it and probably was a while back... sadly not all the voters feel this way.

Then call it as such. However, Young at no point came anywhere close to accusing Key of being a literal gay-basher, and the direct leap to that comparison, even in sarcasm, was rather confusing.

I was, confused that is. Thanks Lucy.

Craig, I thoroughly enjoy your writing style, it's exceptional, but sometimes it can be hard to follow (but I'd still rather you didn't change it).
